Bovine alphaherpesvirus 5 causes meningoencephalitis in cattle, belongs to the family, and can be divided into subtypes a, b, and c. Limited information is available about subtype c. Here, we report the complete genome sequences of two strains, P160/96, and ISO97/45, isolated from cattle in southeast Brazil.

Sucralfate (SCF) has antioxidant activity and has been used to treat different forms of colitis. This study aimed to measure the tissue claudin-3 and occludin content of the colon mucosa without fecal transit, subjected to intervention with SCF.

Identification of histological threshold concepts in health sciences curricula: Students' perception.

Students' metacognitive skills and perceptions are considered important variables for high-quality learning. In this study, students' perceptions were used to identify histological threshold concepts (integrative, irreversible, transformative, and troublesome) in three health sciences curricula. A specific questionnaire was developed and validated to characterize students' perceptions of histological threshold concepts.

Background: Ischemic stroke is the most common cerebrovascular disease and is caused by interruption of blood supply to the brain. To date, recombinant tissue plasminogen activator (rtPA) has been the main pharmacological treatment in the acute phase. However, this treatment has some drawbacks, such as a short half-life, low reperfusion rate, risk of hemorrhagic transformations, and neurotoxic effects.

Here, we draw on a long-term field study of wild baboons to compare the signatures of affiliative and competitive aspects of the social environment in white blood cell gene regulation, under both immune-stimulated and non-stimulated conditions.

3D printed carboxymethyl cellulose scaffolds for autologous growth factors delivery in wound healing.

This work aims to use carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) as main structural and functional component of 3D printed scaffolds for healing of diabetic wounds. Differently from previous inks involving small contents in CMC, herein sterile (steam-heated) concentrated CMC solely dispersions (10-20%w/v) were screened regarding printability and fidelity properties. CMC (15%w/v)-citric acid inks showed excellent self-healing rheological properties and stability during storage.

The Antidiabetic Effect of Grape Pomace Polysaccharide-Polyphenol Complexes.

Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is one of the most prevalent chronic metabolic diseases of the 21st century. Nevertheless, its prevalence might be attenuated by taking advantage of bioactive compounds commonly found in fruits and vegetables. This work is focused on the recovery of polyphenols and polysaccharide-polyphenol conjugates from grape pomace for T2DM management and prevention.

Fish Cytolysins in All Their Complexity.

The majority of the effects observed upon envenomation by scorpaenoid fish species can be reproduced by the cytolysins present in their venoms. Fish cytolysins are multifunctional proteins that elicit lethal, cytolytic, cardiovascular, inflammatory, nociceptive, and neuromuscular activities, representing a novel class of protein toxins. These large proteins (MW 150-320 kDa) are composed by two different subunits, termed α and β, with about 700 amino acid residues each, being usually active in oligomeric form.

Determining anatomical and electrophysiological detail requirements for computational ventricular models of porcine myocardial infarction.

Background: Computational models of the heart built from cardiac MRI and electrophysiology (EP) data have shown promise for predicting the risk of and ablation targets for myocardial infarction (MI) related ventricular tachycardia (VT), as well as to predict paced activation sequences in heart failure patients. However, most recent studies have relied on low resolution imaging data and little or no EP personalisation, which may affect the accuracy of model-based predictions.

Objective: To investigate the impact of model anatomy, MI scar morphology, and EP personalisation strategies on paced activation sequences and VT inducibility to determine the level of detail required to make accurate model-based predictions.

Whole-genome analysis of natural interspecific recombinant between bovine alphaherpesviruses 1 and 5.

Bovine alphaherpesviruses 1 and 5 (BoHV-1 and BoHV-5) are closely related viruses that co-circulate in South America and recombine in the field. The complete genomes of three natural gB gene recombinant viruses between BoHV-1 and BoHV-5 were obtained by Illumina next-generation sequencing. Detection of the sentinel lymph node with hybrid tracer (ICG-[Tc]Tc-albumin nanocolloid) in intermediate- and high-risk endometrial cancer: a feasibility study.

Purpose: Indocyanine green (ICG) is frequently used for the detection of the sentinel lymph node (SLN) in gynecology, but it carries the loss of the presurgical SLN mapping provided by [Tc]-based colloids. Hybrid tracers such as ICG-[Tc]Tc-albumin nanocolloid combine the benefits of both components. The aim of this study was to evaluate the feasibility and applicability of this hybrid tracer injected by transvaginal ultrasound-guided myometrial injection of radiotracer (TUMIR) approach in the detection of SLNs in patients with intermediate- and high-risk EC.

Purpose: To evaluate the effects of sucralfate enemas in tissue contents of E-cadherin and ?-catenin in an experimental diversion colitis.

Methods: Thirty-six male Wistar rats were submitted to a proximal colostomy and a distal mucous fistula. They were allocated into three groups: first group received daily saline enemas (2 mL/day) and the two other groups daily enemas with sucralfate at dosage of 1 or 2 g/kg/day, respectively.

Identification of potential new mosquito-associated viruses of adult Aedes aegypti mosquitoes from Tocantins state, Brazil.
