Background: Ptotic breast deformity arises from decreased breast tissue volume and skin laxity, causing descent of breast tissue due to gravity. Mastopexy lifts and reshapes the breast and can be potentially associated with breast implants in case of need of volume increase. However, this option is not accepted by all the patients.

Background: Obtaining optimum breast aesthetics can be challenging in secondary aesthetic breast surgery, particularly with poor-quality skin, when downsizing implants, and in cases where patients will not accept additional mastopexy scars. Most techniques described in these cases rely on internal suturing and capsulorrhaphy, which can lack precision in tailoring the skin over the internal pocket.

Objectives: The aim of this study was to present the authors' experience with utilizing the hemostatic net to help address a range of challenging breast cases in their practices.

Background: In breast augmentation patients affected by hypoplasic lower poles are a difficult challenge for plastic surgeons. Indeed in these cases it is difficult to create a nice and round contour, especially if a tight thoracic skin is present. Various techniques have been described in the past in order to solve this problem including parenchymal manipulation, fat grafting alone or after subcutaneous release of the stenotic tissue (Rigottomy).

Background: Dorsal augmentation is of primary importance to shape an ideal nose. Although costal cartilage is still used for this purpose, diced cartilage grafts wrapped in autogenous fascia became more and more popular in recent decades. In this paper, the authors report their experience with a new combination made by diced conchal cartilage wrapped in retroauricular fascia in primary and secondary cases.

Background: We present a rare case involving severe hypertrophy of the labia majora. This 39-year-old married woman developed a clinically noticeable bilateral lipodystrophy of her labia majora following the administration of chronic antiretroviral therapy. Different combination drug regimens that included drugs like Crixivan(®), Epivir(®), and Zerit(®) were administered to the patient from 1998 to 2005.

This paper presents guidelines for the safe outpatient practice of aesthetic surgery. These guidelines have been prepared by the Lombard Association of Plastic Surgery for Outpatients (ALChiPlA), an association confined to board certified plastic surgeons and holders of official authorizations issued by the Lombard ASL to perform outpatient surgery. The cornerstone of these guidelines is the health and safety of patients, who are turning to this type of surgery in ever increasing numbers.

Background And Aim: Although a great number of studies have been published on the anatomy of the various fascial layers in the temporal region and the interposed fat pads, there is still uncertainty regarding the organization of the temporal fasciae, above all at the level of the zygomatic arch, and the relationships between the latter and the frontal branch of the facial nerve. This study aimed to describe the anatomy of the temporal fasciae and their relationships both with the interposed fat pads and with the frontal branch of the facial nerve.

Methods: The study was carried out in 10 heads from fresh cadavers which were used to dissect the different tissue layers at the level of the temporo-zygomatic arch.

Since its first description few cases of the rare association of macrocephaly with multiple soft tissue and visceral hamartomas (Bannayan-Zonana syndrome) have been reported. In this paper we report a case of a 7 year old child in whom lipomas of the abdomen and right flank have been treated with liposuction. We could find no previous evidence that this surgical technique has been used in the treatment of this syndrome.

A series of nine patients is reported in which a subcutaneous lipoma appeared within a few months after a blunt trauma. Computerized tomography and/or nuclear magnetic resonance and/or echography were employed for the diagnosis in addition to physical examination. Surgical removal of the masses was then performed without any recurrence at the 3-year minimum follow-up.

The purpose of this paper is to report our personal experience in the field of augmentation mammoplasty. This experience is based on over 15 years in practice and working with more than 400 cases using different types of prostheses (single-lumen gel-filled, single-lumen saline-filled, double-lumen, smooth or texturized surfaces), different routes (submammary, periareolar, transaxillary), and different locations of the implant (complete submuscular, subglandular, subpectoral). Our present preference is for a partial submuscular (subpectoral) augmentation mammoplasty through an inferior periareolar route.

Several options are currently available for volume augmentation of the lips. Problems with some of these techniques include persistent numbness, partial or complete graft resorption, development of epidermal cysts, and extrusion or migration of the implants. We report our experience with 17 lip augmentation procedures in which we used a latissimus dorsi strip graft as the material to increase lip volume.
