Children continue to experience harm when undergoing clinical procedures despite increased evidence of the need to improve the provision of child-centred care. The international ISupport collaboration aimed to develop standards to outline and explain good procedural practice and the rights of children within the context of a clinical procedure. The rights-based standards for children undergoing tests, treatments, investigations, examinations and interventions were developed using an iterative, multi-phased, multi-method and multi-stakeholder consensus building approach.

Article Synopsis
  • Partial nephrectomy (PN) remains the preferred treatment for renal masses in solitary kidneys, though high-complexity tumors present challenges and are being managed more effectively over time.
  • A study comparing two eras (pre-TKI and TKI) found that neoadjuvant TKI significantly reduced tumor size and complexity, resulting in a much higher success rate of PN during the TKI era (91%) compared to the pre-TKI era (65%).
  • Despite achieving higher rates of dialysis-free survival (91% in the TKI era vs 59% in pre-TKI), the recurrence-free survival was lower in the TKI era, indicating the presence of more aggressive tumor types.

Background: Parkinson's disease has been identified as a risk factor for severe Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) outcomes. However, whether the significant high risk of death from COVID-19 in people with Parkinson's disease is specific to the disease itself or driven by other concomitant and known risk factors such as comorbidities, age, and frailty remains unclear.

Objective: To investigate clinical profiles and outcomes of people with Parkinson's disease and atypical parkinsonian syndromes who tested positive for COVID-19 in the hospital setting in a multicentre UK-based study.

Reactive oxygen species (ROS) play a central role in chemistry in cloud water, as well as in other aqueous phases such as lung fluid and in wastewater treatment. Recently, work simulating nascent cloud droplets showed that aerosol particles produce a large burst of OH radicals when they first take up water. This activity stops abruptly, within two minutes.

Background And Objectives: The Oncotype DX Breast Recurrence Score test is used to estimate distant recurrence risk of hormone receptor-positive (HR+) and human epidermal growth factor receptor 2-negative (HER2-) early-stage breast cancer and inform decisions on the use of adjuvant chemotherapy. A model-based budget impact analysis compared the Oncotype DX test in combination with clinical-pathological risk against using clinical-pathological risk alone for HR+/HER2- node-negative (N0) and node-positive (N1; 1-3 axillary lymph nodes) early-stage breast cancer patients.

Materials And Methods: Test and medical costs associated with treatment of breast cancer were assessed through a US healthcare payer perspective.

Current trends in gerontology conceptualize Virtual Reality (VR) as a tool for rehabilitation, lauding its potential for cognitive rehabilitation or as an intervention to reduce cognitive function decline. However, we must take a critical stance and identify not just the potential positive impact, but also how things may go wrong without appropriate guidelines, and the need for careful design around the interaction affordances of the technology. We conducted co-discovery and co-design workshops involving expert stakeholders and older adults ( = 25) over a period of 6 months, involving practical activities including user personas and focus groups to understand the complexities of loneliness and identify possible solutions with VR.
