Article Synopsis
  • Positron emission tomography (PET) response assessment using the Deauville score is useful for predicting outcomes in patients with relapsed/refractory diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) undergoing autologous stem-cell transplantation (ASCT).
  • A study of 125 patients showed that measurements taken before ASCT, specifically mean tumor volume (MTV) and maximum standardized uptake value (SUVmax), are significant predictors of progression-free survival (PFS) and overall survival (OS).
  • Results suggest that pre-ASCT MTV and SUVmax are more valuable for prognosis than earlier response assessments, indicating the potential for PET-directed management in treating R/R DLBCL.

Background: The proper imaging modality for use in the selection of patients for endovascular thrombectomy (EVT) presenting in the late window remains controversial, despite current guidelines advocating the use of advanced imaging in this population. We sought to understand if clinicians with different specialty training differ in their approach to patient selection for EVT in the late time window.

Methods: We conducted an international survey of stroke and neurointerventional clinicians between January and May 2022 with questions focusing on imaging and treatment decisions of large vessel occlusion (LVO) patients presenting in the late window.

Background: Current guidelines for ischaemic stroke treatment recommend a strict, but arbitrary, upper threshold of 185/110 mm Hg for blood pressure before endovascular thrombectomy. Nevertheless, whether admission blood pressure influences the effect of endovascular thrombectomy on outcome remains unknown. Our aim was to study the influence of admission systolic blood pressure (SBP) on functional outcome and on the effect of endovascular thrombectomy.

The CD30-postive lymphoproliferative disorders, including lymphomatoid papulosis and primary cutaneous anaplastic large cell lymphoma, account for up to 30% of all cutaneous T-cell lymphomas (CTCLs) and are the second most common form of CTCLs after mycosis fungoides. Both conditions differ in their clinical presentations; however, they share the expression of the CD30 antigen as a common immunophenotypic hallmark. There is a wide spectrum of management options depending on factors such as extent of disease, staging and treatment tolerability.

Article Synopsis
  • - The study aimed to compare the safety and effectiveness of tenecteplase (TNK) versus alteplase in patients suffering from tandem lesion (TL) strokes, using data from the EXTEND-IA TNK trials.
  • - Results showed that TNK-treated patients had better rates of intracranial reperfusion (20%) compared to those treated with alteplase (7%), but no significant differences were found in long-term functional outcomes, mortality rates, or symptomatic intracranial hemorrhage (sICH) between the two treatments.
  • - Overall, the investigation concluded that TNK is similar to alteplase regarding functional outcomes and safety in patients with TL strokes, suggesting that TNK could be a viable treatment

Background And Purpose: Two early basilar artery occlusion (BAO) randomized controlled trials did not establish the superiority of endovascular thrombectomy (EVT) over medical management. While many providers continue to recommend EVT for acute BAO, perceptions of equipoise in randomizing patients with BAO to EVT versus medical management may differ between clinician specialties.

Methods: We conducted an international survey (January 18, 2022 to March 31, 2022) regarding management strategies in acute BAO prior to the announcement of two trials indicating the superiority of EVT, and compared responses between interventionalists (INTs) and non-interventionalists (nINTs).
