Background: Nirmatrelvir/ritonavir (NM/r) is a safe and effective oral antiviral therapeutic used for treatment of mild-to-moderate COVID-19. Case reports described a clinical rebound syndrome whereby individuals experience a relapse of symptoms shortly after completing successful treatment. There is a lack of information on frequency of COVID-19 rebound after NM/r in routine clinical care, contributing factors, and clinical outcomes.

Background: Those experiencing houselessness rely on obtaining food from community organizers and donations. Simultaneously, the houseless face disproportionally high rates of medical conditions that may be affected by diet including diabetes, hypertension, and hyperlipidemia. There is limited literature on the resources and barriers of the houseless community regarding optimal nutrition from an actionable perspective.

Significance: This investigation reports the correlation of conjunctival viral titers in adenoviral conjunctivitis with patient-reported symptoms and clinician-graded signs for 21 days of follow-up.

Purpose: Adenoviral conjunctivitis is a highly contagious viral eye infection with significant morbidity and economic impact. This study investigates whether severity of signs and symptoms and time to viral clearance are correlated with conjunctival viral titers at baseline and during 21 days of follow-up.

We previously showed that Gap junction (GJ)-mediated soma-germline communication is essential for fly spermatogenesis. Multidisciplinary providers' perspectives on engaging young black, gay, bisexual and other men who have sex with men living with HIV in mental health care services.

Young Black gay, bisexual, and other men who have sex with men (YB-GBMSM) living with HIV are at high risk for psychological stressors and comorbidities. We sought to gain the perspectives of multidisciplinary providers (including HIV care, mental health care, and social service providers) on their experiences with engaging YB-GBMSM in mental health care within comprehensive HIV primary care centers that included both types of services on-site. We conducted qualitative in-depth interviews with fifteen providers in two clinics, and analyzed the qualitative data using a thematic analysis approach.

EFFECTS OF INTRAVITREAL BEVACIZUMAB THERAPY ON GLOMERULAR FILTRATION RATES IN PATIENTS TREATED FOR PROLIFERATIVE DIABETIC RETINOPATHY.

Purpose: To assess whether the repeated use of intravitreal bevacizumab injections in treatment of proliferative diabetic retinopathy is associated with a long-term decline in the glomerular filtration rate (GFR).

Methods: Three hundred charts were retrospectively reviewed, of which 60 patients met the criteria for inclusion. The criteria were as follows: reception of at least one bevacizumab injection, baseline GFR before initial bevacizumab injection, and end GFR 6 to 24 months after baseline.

Burden and Correlates of Mental Health Symptoms Among Young Black Gay, Bisexual, and Other Men Who Have Sex with Men Engaged in HIV Care in Atlanta.

Mental health comorbidities are prevalent among young Black gay, bisexual, and other men who have sex with men (YB-GBMSM) living with HIV and can adversely impact HIV-related outcomes. We conducted a cross-sectional survey study with 100 YB-GBMSM recruited from two HIV care centers in Atlanta, and constructed multivariable logistic and linear regression models to examine correlates of depression, anxiety, trauma symptoms, and general well-being. In adjusted models, full-time employment was associated with fewer depressive symptoms, while HIV stigma and substance use were associated with higher levels of depressive symptoms.

Assessment of patient follow-up from student-run free eye clinic to county ophthalmology clinic.

The Ophthalmology Student Interest Group at Indiana University School of Medicine provides a free student-run eye screening clinic for an underserved community in Indianapolis. Patients with abnormal findings are referred to the ophthalmology service of the local county hospital for further evaluation. This retrospective chart review studied 180 patients referred from our free eye clinic to follow up at the ophthalmology service of a local county hospital from October 2013 to February 2020.

A seven-year analysis of the role and impact of a free community eye clinic.

Background: The Indiana University Student Outreach Clinic (IUSOC) Eye Clinic is a monthly student-run eye clinic that provides free visual screening to the Near East Side community of Indianapolis, IN, USA. Screening includes assessments of visual acuity, intraocular pressure, peripheral visual fields, refraction, and non-mydriatic fundus photography.

Methods: This is a retrospective chart review of 875 patients seen at the IUSOC Eye Clinic from October 2013 to February 2020.

Ocular motility and diplopia measurements following orbital floor fracture repair.

Purpose: Diplopia and ocular motility restriction following orbital fracture repair are common complications. The reported rates in the literature differ greatly, in part due to varying definitions of diplopia and methods of measurement. The purpose of this study is to describe a practical and efficient in-office method for examining ocular motility and diplopia in orbital trauma patients and to report the outcomes in a series of patients who underwent orbital floor fracture repair.

Exploring influences on methamphetamine use among Black gay, bisexual and other men who have sex with men in Atlanta: A focus group study.

Background: Methamphetamine use is a contributor to HIV risk and poor health outcomes among gay, bisexual and other men who have sex with men (GBMSM). There is a paucity of research examining methamphetamine use and its social context specifically among Black GBMSM. We therefore sought to: (1) describe trends in methamphetamine use among Black GBMSM in Atlanta, Georgia, and (2) examine the risk environment (micro-, meso‑ and macro-level factors operating in the political, social, physical, economic, and healthcare environments) that might elevate risk for methamphetamine use in this population.

Parenting intentions of young sexual minority men living with HIV in Mexico City, Mexico.

Young sexual minority men are disproportionately affected by HIV in Mexico. Little is known about their thoughts about childbearing, an issue complicated by sexual identity and HIV serostatus. We conducted 16 in-depth qualitative interviews to explore the parenting desires of young sexual minority men living with HIV in Mexico City.
