Purpose: The course of Vogt-Koyanagi-Harada (VKH) disease is typically assessed qualitatively using indocyanine green angiography (ICGA) and enhanced-depth imaging optical coherence tomography (EDI-OCT). However, a quantitative approach could improve accuracy and objectivity. The aim of this study was to assess the clinical value of the automated measurement capabilities of swept-source optical coherence tomography (SS-OCT) to measure choroidal thickness (quantitative approach) in chronic VKH.

Objective: To provide a description of laparoscopic approach to correct pelvic organ prolapses and evaluate the risk factors associated with the prolapse recurrence.
Study Design: We retrospectively analyzed 418 patients with symptomatic pelvic organ prolapse who underwent a laparoscopic reparation at our university center from 2010 to 2020. Prolapses were assessed by Baden-Walker system (stage I-IV).
Uveal melanoma (UM) is the most common primary malignant intraocular tumor in adults. Distant metastasis is common, affecting around 50% of patients. Prognostic accuracy relies on molecular characterization of tumor tissue.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFUM is an aggressive intraocular tumor characterized by high plasticity and a propensity to metastasize in the liver. However, the underlying mechanisms governing liver tropism remain poorly understood. Given the emerging significance of exosomes, we sought to investigate the contribution of UM-derived exosomes to specific steps of the metastatic process.

We retrospectively evaluated 86 patients with indeterminate lesions treated at our centre from 2016 to 2021. Clinical management involved active surveillance followed by brachytherapy if growth was detected.

A second aim was to determine the most useful biomarkers to monitor disease progression in pediatric patients with Usher syndrome type 1B (USH1) secondary to MYO7A mutation.
Methods: Fifty-two eyes from 26 patients with genetically-confirmed MYO7A-IRD underwent swept-source optical coherence tomography (SS-OCT). Structural abnormalities were evaluated and correlated with follow-up time and best corrected visual acuity (BCVA).
Aims: To determine the presence of sectoral changes in vessel density (VD) patterns induced by vascular endothelial growth factor inhibitors (anti-VEGF) in patients with diabetic macular edema (DME) using optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA).
Methods: Prospective, interventional study. A total of 43 patients (63 eyes) were initially enrolled in the study.

The objective of this study was to determine the correlation between topographic vessel density (VD) and retinal thickness (RT) reductions induced by vascular endothelial growth factor inhibitors (anti-VEGF) in patients with diabetic macular edema (DME) using optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA). This was a prospective, interventional case series. VD and RT measurements were separately taken in four parafoveal subfields at baseline and after six months of treatment.

The literature is scarce, with conflicting results and lacks axial length measurements. Therefore, we aimed to analyse the choriocapillaris (CC) vessel density (VD) and choroidal thickness (ChT) in all stages of LHON using swept source (SS) technology and considering the possible influence of axial length on choroidal parameters.

Background: Uveal melanoma metastasizes to the liver. We aimed to explore the metabolic activity of liver metastases (LM) as a biomarker for survival.
Methods: We analyzed newly diagnosed patients with metastatic UM (MUM) with LM detected by liver-directed imaging and had undergone a PET/CT at diagnosis.
Surgical resection is widely used to treat small tumours located in the iris and the ciliary body, due to the accessibility of these sites. By contrast, surgical removal of choroidal tumours is substantially more challenging, which is why this procedure is performed only at specialised centres. In the present article, we review the literature on surgical resection of choroidal tumours, which can be performed as endoresection (ab interno) or transscleral resection (ab externo).

Despite the effective primary treatment, up to 50% of patients with uveal melanoma will develop metastatic lesions mainly in the liver, which are resistant to conventional chemotherapy and lead to patient's death. To date, no orthotopic murine models of uveal melanoma which can develop spontaneous metastasis are available for preclinical studies.

Purpose: To investigate the macular and circumpapillary retinal microvasculature across all stages of Leber hereditary optic neuropathy (LHON) using swept source optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA).
Methods: This prospective, multicentre, cross-sectional, observational study analysed a total of 119 eyes of 60 patients with molecularly confirmed LHON across all stages and 120 eyes of 60 control subjects. Optical coherence tomography angiography maps centred on the fovea and optic disc were obtained to measure vessel densities (VDs) in the macular superficial (SCP) and deep (DCP) capillary plexuses, and the radial peripapillary capillary plexus (RPCP) respectively.
Purpose: To describe the management of an iris stromal cyst by fine needle aspiration and irrigation with absolute alcohol to induce cyst sclerosis.
Methods: We present the case of a 45-year-old patient with no previous history referred for a 3-month history of an iris lesion in his right eye. Examination revealed a 2.
Background: The main objective was to describe metastatic and survival rates in patients with small choroidal melanocytic lesions initially managed by observation.
Methods: Retrospective, observational study of consecutive cases recruited from 2001 through 2018, followed for a median (mean, range) of 81.0 (89.
Objective: To analyse ocular and systemic findings of patients presenting with systemic metastasis.
Methods And Analysis: It is an international, multicentre, internet-enabled, registry-based retrospective data analysis. Patients were diagnosed between 2001 and 2011.
