The Cryogenic Underground Observatory for Rare Events (CUORE) is a detector array comprised by 988 5  cm×5  cm×5  cm TeO_{2} crystals held below 20 mK, primarily searching for neutrinoless double-beta decay in ^{130}Te. Unprecedented in size among cryogenic calorimetric experiments, CUORE provides a promising setting for the study of exotic throughgoing particles. Using the first tonne year of CUORE's exposure, we perform a search for hypothesized fractionally charged particles (FCPs), which are well-motivated by various standard model extensions and would have suppressed interactions with matter.

Root canal obturation involves filling of the chemomechanically prepared root canal space. Despite reduced microbial load, residual bacteria can still lead to reinfection and treatment failure. Currently, obturation techniques use a combination of gutta-percha and sealer, which requires the preparation of the root canal to specific sizes and tapers to enable the fitting of customized cones.

Aim: To assess the regulation of sodium hypochlorite (NaOCl) solutions for endodontic usage in some of the world's main dental markets, in view of the European Union's recent move to classify antimicrobial root canal irrigants as high-risk devices under their Medical Device Regulation (MDR).

Methodology: The authors consulted legal texts available online and communicated with local health authorities wherever necessary to assess into which medical device category NaOCl solutions intended for endodontic application were subsumed. Furthermore, it was investigated whether there were sources outside the dental market to obtain NaOCl solutions for root canal treatments.

Endodontic irrigation protocols are not only used to clean and disinfect the root canal system, but also to condition the canal wall dentine for subsequent root filling. In this study we tested whether a final irrigation step with saline solution or 80% ethanol improved root canal sealabilty by two popular sealers, an epoxy resin (AH Plus) and a hydraulic calcium silicate cement-based product (BioRoot RCS). Root canals in extracted single-rooted human teeth were instrumented and filled with a matched gutta-percha cone and sealer.

Machine learning analyses are widely used for predicting cognitive abilities, yet there are pitfalls that need to be considered during their implementation and interpretation of the results. Hence, the present study aimed at drawing attention to the risks of erroneous conclusions incurred by confounding variables illustrated by a case example predicting executive function performance by prosodic features. Healthy participants (n = 231) performed speech tasks and EF tests.

This work presents data from 148 German native speakers (20-55 years of age), who completed several speaking tasks, ranging from formal tests such as word production tests to more ecologically valid spontaneous tasks that were designed to mimic natural speech. This speech data is supplemented by performance measures on several standardised, computer-based executive functioning (EF) tests covering domains of working-memory, cognitive flexibility, inhibition, and attention. The speech and EF data are further complemented by a rich collection of demographic data that documents education level, family status, and physical and psychological well-being.

Additive Manufacturing (AM) enables the generation of complex geometries and controlled internal cavities that are so interesting for the biomedical industry due to the benefits they provide in terms of osseointegration and bone growth. These technologies enable the manufacturing of the so-called lattice structures that are cells with different geometries and internal pores joint together for the formation of scaffold-type structures. In this context, the present paper analyses the feasibility of using diamond-type lattice structures and topology optimisation for the re-design of a dental implant.

Introduction: Biological characterization of root canal sealers is important as it assesses the ability of the root canal sealer to exert antimicrobial properties thus avoiding treatment failures caused by microbial challenge and also assess the cytotoxic effect on the periapical tissues. Assessment of the biological testing of root canal sealers necessitates the sterilisation of the materials prior to evaluation. This study aims to analyse the influence of various sterilisation techniques conducted prior to biological testing on the microstructure and surface properties of endodontic sealers.
