Glioblastoma is an aggressive brain cancer with a poor prognosis. The O6-methylguanine-DNA methyltransferase (MGMT) gene methylation status is crucial for treatment stratification, yet economic constraints often limit access. This study aims to develop an artificial intelligence (AI) framework for predicting MGMT methylation.

Malformations of cortical development (MCD) are structural anomalies that disrupt the normal process of cortical development. Patients with these anomalies frequently present with seizures, developmental delay, neurologic deficits, and cognitive impairment, resulting in a wide spectrum of neurologic outcomes. The severity and type of malformation, in addition to the genetic pathways of brain development involved, contribute to the observed variability.

Ependymomas (EPN) are central nervous system neoplasms that exhibit an ependymal phenotype. In particular, supratentorial EPN (ST-EPN) must be differentiated from more aggressive entities such as glioblastoma, IDH-wildtype. This task is frequently addressed with the use of immunohistochemistry coupled with clinical presentation and morphological features.

There are many vascular disorders that can affect the spinal cord, and their prevalence and etiology are highly influenced by age, sex, and risk factors. This article reviews the embryology and anatomy of the spinal cord, as well as several vascular conditions, describing their clinical and imaging presentation, emphasizing the different imaging modalities' contributions to increasing specificity and better defining the most appropriate therapy strategy for improving the patient's prognosis.

The hippocampus is one of the most sophisticated structures in the brain, owing to its complex anatomy, intriguing functions, relationship with other structures, and relevant associated symptoms. Despite being a structure analyzed for centuries, its anatomy and physiology in the human body are still being extensively studied, as well as associated pathologic conditions and potential biomarkers. It can be affected by a broad group of diseases that can be classified as congenital, degenerative, infectious or inflammatory, neoplastic, vascular, or toxic-metabolic disease.

Context And Objective: Little has been discussed about the increased risk of stroke after exposure to air pollutants, particularly in Brazil. The mechanisms through which air pollution can influence occurrences of vascular events such as stroke are still poorly understood. The aim of this study was to estimate the association between exposure to some air pollutants and risk of death due to stroke.

Background: Cutaneous melanoma is a skin cancer with low incidence but high mortality rates. Several factors are associated with increased risk of melanoma, such as excessive sun exposure, fair skin, and family history, among others. Little is known about the spatial distribution of this cancer in Brazil.

Objective: To estimate the risk of hospitalization for asthma in children after exposure to air pollutants in a medium-sized city in Southeast Brazil.

Methods: An ecological time series study was carried out with hospitalization data for asthma in children under 10 years of age living in São José dos Campos, SP, Brazil, and concentrations of particulate matter with aerodynamic diameter < 10 microns, sulfur dioxide, and ozone; data were also obtained on relative humidity and temperatures. Pearson's coefficient correlation was used for the study variables.
