Putative paraneoplastic alopecia in a cat with apocrine adenocarcinoma.

Feline paraneoplastic alopecia is associated with intraabdominal neoplasms. A 13-year-old female cat was presented with a history of a cutaneous mass on the head, followed by ventrally distributed alopecia with shiny skin. Necropsy revealed an apocrine adenocarcinoma and telogenisation/miniaturisation of the hair follicles, respectively.

Domestic cat hepadnavirus genotype B is present in Southern Brazil.

Domestic cat hepadnavirus (DCH) (Orthohepadnavirus felisdomestici) is an emerging virus related to the hepatitis B virus (HBV) already reported in many countries. The molecular prevalence of DCH varies widely in the regions investigated so far. In the present work, we reported the presence of DCH in Brazil.
