Article Synopsis
  • The study examines how running economy (RE) relates to various kinematic parameters in long-distance runners, focusing on their gait mechanics during running.
  • Twenty recreational runners participated in treadmill trials at different intensities, with data collected on their breathing and movement using advanced technology.
  • The findings reveal that specific knee and hip movement patterns during running significantly correlate with and predict running economy, suggesting that optimizing these kinematic aspects can enhance running performance.

Walking biomechanics is known to be influenced by speed. However, most of the research examining the effects of walking speed and gait characteristics has been conducted after a fast-walking task, neglecting the changes that may occur during the task. The aim of the present study was to determine the impact of fast-walking over time on kinematics in young and old adults.
