We aimed to assess the diagnosis of autoimmune encephalitis in clinical practice and to compare the performance of two international diagnostic algorithms (one intended for patients of any age [general], the other intended for paediatric patients), with particular emphasis on the evaluation of patients with probable antibody-negative autoimmune encephalitis because this diagnosis suggests that immunotherapy should be continued or escalated but is difficult to establish.
Methods: We did a prospective cohort study that included all patients (<18 years of age) with suspected autoimmune encephalitis recruited at 40 hospitals in Spain whose physicians provided clinical information every 6 months for 2 years or more.
Based on the available literature, duplicated internal auditory canals (DIACs) represent an exceedingly rare temporal bone anomaly that can result in sensorineural hearing loss (SNHL) in the pediatric population. Often associated with a hypoplastic or aplastic cochlear nerve, DIAC poses limitations on treatment options, such as cochlear implants, for affected patients. Accurate diagnosis and optimal management necessitate a thorough assessment of inner ear structures and potential neural abnormalities with high-resolution computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging of the temporal bones.

Methods: The clinical file and histopathology slides of this patient who underwent surgical corneal neurotization for a neurotrophic keratopathy in the right eye were reviewed.
Results: A 70-year-old man with a history of severe herpetic (varicella zoster) neurotrophic keratopathy and keratouveitis in the right eye developed a corneal perforation, which required tectonic keratoplasty (May 2020).
The highlands of the Guiana Shield (Pantepui) in northern South America harbor a unique fauna and flora. However, this diversity remains poorly documented, as many Pantepui massifs remain little explored or unexplored, mainly because their access is very challenging. Considering amphibians, 11 genera are endemic or sub-endemic to Pantepui, and one of them, Neblinaphryne, is monospecific and was recently described from the Neblina massif, at the border between Brazil and Venezuela.

Purpose Of Review: Advancements in precision medicine have shifted the treatment paradigm of brain metastases (BM) from non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), breast cancer, and melanoma, especially through targeted therapies focused on specific molecular drivers. These novel agents have improved outcomes by overcoming challenges posed by the blood-brain barrier (BBB) and resistance mechanisms, enabling more effective treatment of BM.
Recent Findings: In NSCLC, therapies such as osimertinib have improved efficacy in treating EGFR-mutant BM, with emerging combinations such as amivantamab and lazertinib offering promising alternatives for patients resistant to frontline therapies.
Shallow saline lakes in the La Mancha Húmeda Biosphere Reserve in Central Spain show diverse degrees of cultural and natural eutrophication, prompting urgent conservation measures. This study focuses on 17 representative lakes from the site to assess seasonal nutrient dynamics and their connection to plankton metabolism (photosynthesis and respiration) during two successive hydrological periods. Effect of environmental factors was evaluated on a combination of several response variables, demonstrating that source of the nutrient inputs (ranging from natural to anthropic) had the highest influence on the nutrients stoichiometry and metabolic rates.

Ductile thinning along the major low-angle Evia Shear Zone has closely juxtaposed the lower (Basal Unit) marble-flysch sequence structurally below Styra marbles (Cycladic Blueschist Unit). Despite the vaccine's widespread use during several outbreaks, no real-world effectiveness estimates are currently available in the literature.
Methods: We conducted a retrospective test-negative analysis to estimate effectiveness of rVSV-ZEBOV vaccination against Ebola virus disease during the 2018-20 epidemic in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, using data on suspected Ebola virus disease cases collected from Ebola treatment centres.

All horses were affected chronically and progressively by bilateral hyperflexion of hindlimbs. In two severely affected horses, the main histological lesions included neuronal chromatolysis and axonal spheroids in the ventral gray horn in the lumbar and sacral spinal cord and axonal degeneration and digestion chambers in ventral roots fibers and long peripheral nerves.
