Methods: In this retrospective comparative case study, we identified the cases of polymicrobial keratitis from the microbiological records (n = 649) at Balcalı Hospital, Çukurova University (Adana, Turkey; October 2010-2018). We included all the cases of infectious keratitis with two different types of microbial agents and grouped them as follows: group 1 (n = 25), bacterium-fungus coexistence; group 2 (n = 12), herpes simplex virus (HSV) or Acanthamoeba with bacterial infection; and group 3 (n = 7), HSV or Acanthamoeba with fungal infection.

Secondary contact between crops and their wild relatives poses a threat to wild species, not only through gene flow between plants, but also through the dispersal of crop pathogens and genetic exchanges involving these pathogens, particularly those that have become more virulent by indirect selection on resistant crops, a phenomenon known as "pestification." Joint analyses of wild and domesticated hosts and their pathogens are essential to address this issue, but such analyses remain rare. We used population genetics approaches, demographic inference and pathogenicity tests on host-pathogen pairs of wild or domesticated apple trees from Central Asia and their main fungal pathogen, Venturia inaequalis, which itself has differentiated agricultural and wild-type populations.

Radioactivity concentrations of nuclides of the Th and U radioactive chains and K, Sr, Cs, and Pu were surveyed for raw and cooked food of the population in the Red River delta region, Vietnam, using α-, γ-spectrometry, and liquid scintillation counting techniques.
