The medial prefrontal cortex (mPFC) plays a critical role in emotional regulation, and its dysregulation is linked to anxiety disorders. In particular, the prelimbic cortex (PrL) of the mPFC is thought to modulate anxiety-related behaviors, though its precise role remains debated. Here, we used endoscopic in vivo calcium imaging to assess PrL neuronal activity in male and female Sprague-Dawley rats performing in the Elevated Plus Maze (EPM), a widely used task to measure anxiety-like behavior.

We present the case of an 80-year-old female with acute pulmonary edema and a dual chamber pacemaker with intermittent short AV delays in the surface ECG after blocked premature atrial contractions (PACs). The behavior was consistent with the programmed Window of Atrial Rate Acceleration Detection (WARAD) and did not require further parameter modifications. As most cardiologists and emergency department physicians are not familiar with brand-specific algorithms, we believe that this case report will make these noncompetitive atrial pacing algorithms more accessible to non-cardiologists.

Consequently, the need for validated preclinical models to uncover the etiology of anxiety phenotypes remains essential. Given the link between social stress experience and the manifestation of anxiogenic-like outcomes, we evaluated whether social defeat stress (SDS) reduces open-space exploratory behavior in prairie voles ().

We aimed at developing and validating a global mapping strategy during programmed ventricular stimulation (PVS) to reveal the underlying electrophysiological properties of the infarct-related substrate and to enable identification of highly heterogeneous activation sites associated with protected VT isthmus sites.
Methods And Results: Experimental study that included 22 pigs with established myocardial infarction undergoing in vivo characterization of the anatomical and functional myocardial substrate associated with potential arrhythmogenicity.
This paper presents a comprehensive study of hydrogenated amorphous silicon (a-Si)-based detectors, utilizing electrical characterization, Raman spectroscopy, photoemission, and inverse photoemission techniques. The unique properties of a-Si have sparked interest in its application for radiation detection in both physics and medicine. Although amorphous silicon (a-Si) is inherently a highly defective material, hydrogenation significantly reduces defect density, enabling its use in radiation detector devices.

Methods: The registry is based on information provided by centers following device implantation, which is submitted to the Heart Rhythm Association of the Spanish Society of Cardiology via the national online registry platform (Cardiodispositivos). Additional information sources include: a) data transfer from the manufacturing and marketing industry; and b) local databases sent from the implanting centers.
Introduction And Objectives: We report the results of the 2023 Spanish catheter ablation registry.
Methods: Procedural data were collected and incorporated into the REDCap platform by all participating centers through a specific form.
Results: There were 104 participating centers in 2023 compared with 103 in 2022.
Aims: There is lack of agreement on late gadolinium enhancement cardiac magnetic resonance (LGE-CMR) imaging processing for guiding ventricular tachycardia (VT) ablation. We aim at developing and validating a systematic processing approach on LGE-CMR images to identify VT corridors that contain critical VT isthmus sites.
Methods And Results: This is a translational study including 18 pigs with established myocardial infarction and inducible VT undergoing in vivo characterization of the anatomical and functional myocardial substrate associated with VT maintenance.

A fundamental aspect in the evolution of Time-to-Digital Converters (TDCs) implemented within Field-Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs), given the increasing demand for detection channels, is the optimization of resource utilization. This study reviews the principal methodologies employed for implementing low-resource TDCs in FPGAs. It outlines the foundational architectures and interpolation techniques utilized to bolster TDC performances without unduly burdening resource consumption.

Detectors that can provide accurate dosimetry for microbeam radiation therapy (MRT) must possess intrinsic radiation hardness, a high dynamic range, and a micron-scale spatial resolution. In this work we characterize hydrogenated amorphous silicon detectors for MRT dosimetry, presenting a novel combination of flexible, ultra-thin and radiation-hard features. Two detectors are explored: an n-type/intrinsic/p-type planar diode (NIP) and an NIP with an additional charge selective layer (NIP + CSC).

Here, we present a precision synbiotic supplementation study in 296 children and adults diagnosed with ASD versus 123 age-matched neurotypical controls. One hundred seventy ASD participants completed the study.

This type of volcanic gas emission provides valuable information, even though the soil matrix contains an important atmospheric component. This study aimed to demonstrate that chemical ratios such as He/CO in soil gases provide excellent information on the evolution of volcanic unrest episodes and help forecast the volcanic eruption onset.

In parallel, other clinical characteristics and comorbidities may also affect atrial tissue properties and make the atria susceptible to AF initiation and its long-term persistence. Overall, pathological atrial changes lead to atrial cardiomyopathy with important implications for rhythm control.

As an urban and periurban mosquito species, Anopheles stephensi is exposed to artificial human stimuli like light that can alter many aspects of mosquito behaviour, physiology and metabolism. Therefore, fluctuations in the light environment may influence the host, parasite and/or mosquito biology and hence modulate risk for disease transmission.

The Tunuyán and Mendoza River Basins (Province of Mendoza, Argentina) have been selected as a representative semiarid region to test the applicability of an integrated water quality evaluation. To detect spatio-temporal variations of anthropic contamination, physicochemical and bacteriological parameters, as well as three ecotoxicological assays, were assessed in reference sites for 3 years. Bioassays based on the nematode Caenorhabditis elegans, the vascular plant Lactuca sativa, and the algae Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata were performed and toxicological categories were established.

This serious condition associated with increased mortality and morbidity has a negative impact on patient quality of life and the functioning of the health care system. The management of AF requires consideration of diverse clinical variables and a large number of possible therapeutic approaches, justifying action plans to coordinate the work of several medical specialties in the interest of providing appropriate care and optimizing resources.

This study reports mechanistic insights into the electromechanical remodeling process associated with AF progression and further demonstrates its prognostic value in the clinic. Two H-based membrane biofilm reactors (MBfRs) were tested in continuous mode: one with a biofilm alone (H-MBfR) and the other with biogenic Pd nanoparticles (PdNPs) deposited in the biofilm (Pd-H-MBfR). Solid-state characterizations of PdNPs in Pd-H-MBfR documented that the PdNPs were uniformly located along the outer surfaces of the bacteria in the biofilm.

Histamine actions are classically mediated through four different G protein-coupled receptor subtypes but non-classical actions were also described, including effects on many ligand-gated ion channels. Previous evidence indicated that histamine acts as a positive modulator on diverse GABA receptor subtypes, such as GABAα1β2γ2, GABAα2β3γ2, GABAα3β3γ2, GABAα4β3γ2 and GABAα5β3γ2.
