Introduction: the orthopedic shoe is usually prescribed during postoperative care after hallux valgus surgery to protect the osteotomy and provide functional comfort to the patient. In this regard, the superiority of rigid sole shoe (RSS) compared to the reverse camber shoe (RCS) remains controversial. The aim of this study is to compare the clinical, functional and radiological outcomes from using the rigid sole shoe (RSS) vs.

Background: The optimal total knee arthroplasty (TKA) rotational alignment and how best to obtain and measure it are debatable. The aim was to analyse the reliability of the Berger femoral, three different tibial and four different combined two-dimensional computer tomography (2D-CT) TKA component rotation measurements, and to ascertain which rotational values best predict a successful clinical outcome.

Methods: The 2D-CT scans were obtained post-operatively on 60 patients who had TKA.

Background: Gut microbial composition plays an important role in numerous traits, including immune response. Integration of host genomic information with microbiome data is a natural step in the prediction of complex traits, although methods to optimize this are still largely unexplored. In this paper, we assess the impact of different modelling strategies on the predictive capacity for six porcine immunocompetence traits when both genotype and microbiota data are available.

Background: The Akin osteotomy is widely used to correct the hallux valgus and different fixation techniques have been proposed. Currently most of these procedures coexist, with disagreement on which offers the best results. The aim of this study is to compare the radiological outcome of the original Akin's technique with one in which a staple was used to stabilize the osteotomy.

Septic arthritis usually occurs as an acute joint process that can cause a rapid destruction of the cartilage, if the necessary therapeutic measures were not taken. Rarely, Staphylococcus warneri may be the cause of this pathology although due to its diagnostic difficulty we can make mistakes in its treatment. We present the case of a patient with septic arthritis of the knee by this germ and we intend to remark what are the diagnostic measures and recommendations to consider for this osteoarticular infection.
