Background: Placental syndrome, mainly composed of preeclampsia and fetal growth restriction, has an impact on the health of mother and baby dyads. While impaired placentation is central to their pathophysiology, the underlying molecular mechanisms remain incompletely understood. This study investigates the association between placental syndrome and metabolic alterations in 1-deoxysphingolipids (1-deoxySLs) and polyamines, along with their regulatory enzymes.

Atrial septal defects (ASD) divert flow from systemic to pulmonary circulation, and some degree of plasma volume expansion and neurohormonal activation are necessary to maintain the effective circulatory volume. The aim of the present study was to understand the patterns of neurohormonal activation in ASD patients. 16 ASD patients and 10 controls were enrolled.

The present study aimed to determine the effects of using crizotinib alone and in combination with butyric acid on different types of breast cancer cells. A total of three different breast cancer models were used: MDA-MB-231, a triple negative model; MCF-7, a Luminal A model; and SKBR-3 cell line, a human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 positive model.

Objectives: Coronary microvascular dysfunction is present in large percentage of the population, and it has been shown to have a pathological and prognostic role in many conditions. Therefore, early detection of microvascular dysfunction is important, especially in selected populations. The aim of this study was to investigate the association of galanin with coronary flow reserve (CFR) in prehypertensive individuals to determine whether it can be used as a marker to detect microvascular dysfunction.

Due to the extensive number of samples, an accurate analysis of acrylamide in French fries and its precursors in tubers is difficult to implement in the breeding process. Therefore, this study aimed to evaluate the suitability of NIRS measurements after minimal sample processing for the prediction of reducing sugar contents in the tubers or acrylamide contents in French fries.

There is a need for alternative treatments that do not cause treatment resistance and have minimal or no side effects. Sonodynamic therapy (SDT), due to its noninvasive, multiple repeatability, localized treatment feature and do not cause treatment resistance, emerges as an alternative treatment option.

This retrospective study aimed to evaluate the efficacy of medical treatments using various clinical, imaging, and electrocardiographic parameters in patients with idiopathic PVCs.
Methods: A total of 1051 patients with idiopathic PVCs were retrospectively analyzed.
Three-dimensional (3D) bioprinting culture models capable of reproducing the pathological architecture of diseases are increasingly advancing. In this study, 3D scaffolds were created using extrusion-based bioprinting method with alginate, gelatin, and hyaluronic acid to investigate the effects of hyaluronic acid on the physical properties of the bioscaffold as well as on the formation of liver cancer spheroids. Conformational analysis, rheological characterization, and swelling-degradation tests were performed to characterize the scaffolds.

Arsenic, a naturally occurring element found in soil, water, and air, easily enters the human body and leads to many metabolic disorders. In this study, we focused on the possible protective effects of N-acetylcysteine (NAC) against sodium arsenite (As)-induced toxic effects on embryonic fibroblast cells.

Circadian rhythms are closely related to cell fate because they are necessary for regulating the cell cycle, cellular proliferation, and apoptosis. Clock dysfunction can result in the development of diseases such as cancer.

It is not possible to fully analyze the complex network that emerges from the set of interactions of these determinants, both with each other and with environmental security. Indeed, a number of variables and relationships hidden in the background of the puzzle such as 'game theoretical interactions between economies on energy security', characterize this network.

However, challenges still persist in preparing catalysts for chemical reduction, and there is a need for the development of inexpensive, easily synthesized, and effective catalyst systems. In this study, we have synthesized a new palladium nanocatalyst supported on the composite hydrogel beads composed of sodium carboxymethyl cellulose (Na-CMC) and graphitic carbon nitride (g-CN).

Homeostatic model assessment for insulin resistance (HOMA-IR) is a widely used surrogate marker of IR, although recent studies suggest triglyceride-glucose (TyG) index is a superior marker of IR that had a better accuracy to predict type 2 diabetes or cardiovascular outcomes than HOMA-IR.
Objectives: We aimed to assess the accuracy and usefulness of TyG index and HOMA-IR for predicting CMD as assessed with echocardiographic coronary flow reserve (CFR) measurement.
Objective: Various studies have reported that certain long non-coding RNA levels are unusually low in the intestines of celiac disease patients, suggesting that this may be associated with the inflammation observed in celiac disease. Despite these studies, the research aimed at uncovering the potential role of long non-coding RNAs in the pathogenesis of autoimmune diseases like celiac disease remains insufficient. Therefore, in this study, we plan to assess long non-coding RNA polymorphisms associated with autoimmunity in children diagnosed with celiac disease according to the European Society for Paediatric Gastroenterology Hepatology and Nutrition criteria.

As carpal tunnel syndrome is associated with amyloidosis, we hypothesized that previously observed abnormalities can largely be related with concomitant amyloidosis rather than CTS itself.
Design: Prospective observational study.
Purpose: To study the histological changes of the preputial tissue from birth to prepubertal age in order to define unnoticed morphological changes.
Materials And Methods: Prepuce samples were obtained from 79 healthy boys who underwent routine ritual circumcision. Specimens were divided into six groups according to the boys' age: newborn, 0-1 year of age, 2-3 years of age, 4-5 years of age, 6-7 years of age, and 8-9 years of age.

Objective: Many researchers have considered obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) to be a neurodegenerative disease just like Alzheimer's disease (AD). The most studied gene in neurodegenerative diseases is apolipoprotein E (ApoE) gene, and ApoE ɛ4 allele in particular. Although a small number of studies have explored the relationship between ApoE gene polymorphisms and OCD, the link between age at onset of OCD, its subtypes and ApoE gene polymorphisms has not been revealed so far.

There exists significant heterogeneity in the literature regarding the methodology used to create the model and the predefined duration after the insult when the model is supposedly fully fit for evaluations and/or for testing various therapeutic interventions. The literature is also replete with examples wherein the implementation of a specific model varies significantly across different studies.

In the present research, the antiproliferative properties of Gliotoxin, which is obtained from marine fungus and thought to be a promising metabolite, on MCF-7 and MDA-MB-231 breast cancer cells, which have different molecular subtypes, were evaluated. Different cell kinetic parameters were employed for this aim. In experiments, cell viability, cell index, mitotic index, BrdU labeling index, and apoptotic index were assessed.
