This study aimed to examine the relationship between resilience and the hope levels of healthcare workers who have experienced the COVID-19 pandemic, the effects of resilience and gender on individual performance, the effects of hope levels on individual performance, and aimed to determine whether hope mediated the effect of resilience on individual performance. This was a descriptive cross-sectional study. The psychological resilience, hope, and individual performance of healthcare workers affiliated with the Istanbul Provincial Health Directorate were obtained from online questionnaires completed by participants between April 2021 and August 2021.

We report on transport measurements in monolayer MoSdevices, close to the bottom of the conduction band edge. These devices were annealedbefore electrical measurements. This allows us to obtain good ohmic contacts at low temperatures, and to measure precisely the conductivity and mobility via four-probe measurements.

A huge amount of thermal energy is available close to material surfaces in radiative and nonradiative states, which can be useful for matter characterization or energy harvesting. Even though a full class of novel nanoengineered devices has been predicted over the last two decades for exploiting near-field thermal photons, efficient near-field thermophotovoltaic conversion could not be achieved experimentally until now. Here, we realize a proof of principle by using a micrometer-sized indium antimonide photovoltaic cell cooled at 77 K and approached at nanometer distances from a hot (∼730 K) graphite microsphere emitter.

In this work, we show a detailed engineering route of the first piezoelectric nanostructured epitaxial quartz-based microcantilever. We will explain all the steps in the process starting from the material to the device fabrication. The epitaxial growth of α-quartz film on SOI (100) substrate starts with the preparation of a strontium doped silica sol-gel and continues with the deposition of this gel into the SOI substrate in a thin film form using the dip-coating technique under atmospheric conditions at room temperature.

Simulations of near-field thermophotovoltaic devices predict promising performance, but experimental observations remain challenging. Having the lowest bandgap among III-V semiconductors, indium antimonide (InSb) is an attractive choice for the photovoltaic cell, provided it is cooled to a low temperature, typically around 77 K. Here, by taking into account fabrication and operating constraints, radiation transfer and low-injection charge transport simulations are made to find the optimum architecture for the photovoltaic cell.

Platinum (Pt)-decorated graphene-based carbon composite electrodes with controlled dimensionality were successfully fabricated via core-shell electrospinning/electrospraying techniques. In this process, multilayer graphene sheets were converted into the three different forms, fiber, sphere, and foam, by tailoring the polymer concentration, molecular weight of polymer, and applied voltage. As polymer concentration increased, continuous fibers were produced, whereas decreasing polymer concentration caused the formation of graphene-based foam.

The immunmodulatory effects of dl-alpha tocopherol (vitamin E) and levamisole on the immune system and some blood parameters of newborn Jersey calves were investigated with the present study. Treatment groups 1, 2 and 3 were injected 13,3 ml isotonic saline solution (0,9% NaCl), 3 mg/kg levamisole HCl and 2000 IU vitamin E weekly, starting at birth until the age of two weeks. Average serum IgM levels of the control, levamisole and vitamin E calves were 111,7 +/- 9,3 mg/100 ml, 251,9 +/- 27,6 mg/100 ml, 202,2 +/- 43,3 mg/100 ml respectively on day 22.

With this case report, we describe Trombiculidae larvae (Neotrombicula autumnalis) infestation in a Little Bittern (Ixobrychus minutus) which was brought to our clinics by the Directorship of Environmental and Forestry authorities of Samsun, Turkey in April, 2007. The male Little Bittern (I. minutus), with a black back and crown, and black wings with a large white patch on each wing, had thick Trombiculidae larvae infestation both on its legs.

The serum concentrations of serotonin and lipids--triglycerides, total cholesterol, low density lipoprotein, high density lipoprotein and very low density lipoprotein--were determined in 18 normal dogs and 23 dogs diagnosed as aggressive on the basis of interviews with their owners and an assessment of their behaviour with reference to a canine overt aggression chart. The serum serotonin levels in the aggressive dogs were significantly lower than in the normal dogs (P<0.01), but the differences in serum lipids between the two groups were not statistically significant.

Levels of serum serotonin and serum lipids--triglyceride, total cholesterol, low-density lipoprotein, high-density lipoprotein and very low-density lipoprotein, were determined in normal horses and horses diagnosed with aggression on the basis of a questionnaire survey. Blood serotonin levels in aggressive horses were found to be significantly lower than in non-aggressive horses (P < 0.01), but no association was found with respect to blood lipids.
