Objectives: This study analyzed whether the isokinetic muscle strength of bilateral knee osteoarthritis patients undergoing unilateral total knee arthroplasty (TKA) is a predictor for prior surgery side.
Patients And Methods: In the prospective study conducted between April 2021 and December 2021, 58 knees of 29 unilateral TKA candidates (6 males, 23 females; mean age: 66.7±7.
Objective: This study assessed the cost-effectiveness of nivolumab plus ipilimumab versus both sunitinib and pazopanib for the treatment of first-line unresectable advanced renal cell carcinoma (aRCC) from a healthcare system perspective in Switzerland.
Methods: A three-state partitioned survival model, consisting of progression-free, progressed disease, and death, was constructed. Efficacy estimates were based on data from the CheckMate 214 trial (NCT02231749) with a minimum follow-up of 42 months.

Objective: Chondromalacia patella (CMP), which is one of the most common causes of anterior knee pain in young adults, is often accompanied by reflex inhibition of the quadriceps muscle. In this respect, a significant correlation between isokinetic parameters and knee muscle strengths would be expected. We hypothesized that an isokinetic dynamometer, which objectively evaluates muscle strength, may be an important guide in detecting muscle weakness in new-onset CMP and determining early treatment strategies.

Objective: To investigate the efficacy of first-trimester thiol/disulfide homeostasis (t/dh), a new oxidative stress marker, in predicting preeclampsia.
Study Design: Prospective cohort study.
Place And Duration Of Study: Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, University of Health Sciences, Zeynep Kamil Women and Children Diseases Training and Research Hospital, Istanbul, Turkey, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Bursa Yüksek Ihtisas Training and Research Hospital, Bursa, Turkey, from March 2016 to February 2019.
Introduction: Although laparoscopic repair of inguinal hernia is associated with reduced postoperative pain, it is not entirely painless. In addition to reducing the need for analgesic medication, postoperative complications, and hospitalization, postoperative pain control enables early return to normal activity.
Aim: To evaluate the efficacy of bupivacaine instilled into the pre-peritoneal space and trocar incisions of patients undergoing laparoscopic totally extraperitoneal (TEP) repair of inguinal hernia.

Objective: Prognostic effect of KRAS mutation and side of tumor in colorectal cancer is a highly controversial subject. Therefore, we evaluated the association between FDG uptake pattern in F-fluoro-2-deoxy-glucose positron emission tomography/computed tomography (F-FDG PET/CT) imaging and KRAS mutation and tumor localization in patients with a diagnosis of colon cancer and assessed the effects of these three factors on prognosis and survival.
Methods: Eighty-three patients with colorectal cancer were retrospectively included in this study.
Background: Biliary fistula is one of the most common complications of liver and biliary tract surgeries. Endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) is used for the diagnosis and treatment of biliary fistulas. In this study, we aimed to analyze the contribution of ERCP in this regard.

In our study, we aimed to evaluate the clinical and histopathological characteristics of ADD with differences from acute appendicitis (AA) diagnosis and to determine the association with neoformative processes.
Methods: The 4279 patients who underwent appendectomy were evaluated retrospectively.
Objective: The aim of this study was to analyze the predictive value of preoperative laboratory findings in acute appendicitis in geriatric patients aged >65 years.
Methods: We enrolled a total of 4121 patients. A retrospective evaluation of the demographic features was made using preoperative laboratory values such as the white blood cell (WBC), neutrophil, and lymphocyte counts; platelet counts; the mean platelet volume and bilirubin values; and postoperative pathological data of the patients from the electronic file system.
Gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) is a common complication during pregnancy. Evaluation of the quantitative physical activity in diabetic pregnant women is critical. The aim of this study was to test the reliability and validity of the Pregnancy Physical Activity Questionnaire (PPAQ) in Turkish patients with GDM.

Material And Methods: We conducted a retrospective study based on the review of medical records of pregnant women in whom ultrasonographic diagnosis of fetal cystic hygroma was established in the first trimester from January 2014 to October 2018. All patients were offered genetic counselling and prenatal invasive diagnostic procedures to obtain fetal karyotype.
Aim: The patients who underwent endoscopic mucosal resection (EMR) and endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) for mucosal and submucosal lesions of the esophagus, stomach, and duodenum and the advantages of the double endoscope method we used for traction during ESD were evaluated.
Material And Methods: The patients who underwent ESD and EMR due to upper gastrointestinal lesions were evaluated retrospectively between January 2014 and April 2018 in our endoscopy unit.
Result: The mean age of 10 patients with esophageal lesions was 53 years.

Introduction: Stent treatment can be applied to avoid surgery in surgically risky patients or to turn a high-risk emergency operation into a lower-risk elective operation and save time.
Aim: In this study, the techniques, clinical efficacy, safety and complications of endoscopic stents applied in emergency conditions were evaluated in patients with acute mechanical intestinal obstruction (AMIO) due to colorectal cancer.
Material And Methods: Between 2013 and 2015, 23 patients with an average age of 69.

Background: Esophageal perforation (EP) is a lethal surgical emergency that needs to be diagnosed and treated immediately. Diagnosis and treatment options for EP are limited due to its lower incidence. There are scoring systems proposed for this purpose; however, they cannot be applied to every patient.

To investigate the role of dynamic thiol-disulfide homeostasis in preeclamptic and idiopathic fetal growth restricted (FGR) pregnancies. In this prospective case-control study, a total of 110 singleton pregnancies with FGR (study group) (51 preeclamptic and 59 idiopathic FGR's cases) were compared with 68 healthy pregnant controls at the same gestational weeks (control group). For serum disulfide-thiol homeostasis, a newly used method described by Erel and Neselioglu was used.

The present study was performed to describe a single-center experience with upper gastrointestinal stents.
Methods: All patients at a single center who had an SEMS placed for the treatment of obstruction over a 3-year period were retrospectively evaluated.
Purpose: The study was conducted to investigate the effect of preoperative oral carbohydrate loading on the preoperative discomforts and postoperative complications of patients undergoing elective thyroidectomy.
Design: A randomized controlled clinical trial.
Methods: Ninety patients scheduled for thyroidectomy were divided into three groups: (1) those receiving a carbohydrate-rich drink (CHD), (2) those receiving an overnight 5% glucose intravenous infusion, and (3) those fasting from midnight.
Objective: Iatrogenic colonic perforation is a well-known complication that can increase mortality and morbidity in patients undergoing colonoscopy. Closer follow-up and a well-planned treatment strategy are required when perforation arises as a complication. The aims of this study are to (1) report our experience with a large colonoscopy series; (2) evaluate the underlying mechanisms of iatrogenic colonic perforation; (3) discuss the ideal period between onset and treatment; and (4) review the current literature regarding the management of iatrogenic colonic perforations.
