Aims: We aimed to determine the use of sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 inhibitors (SGLT2is) and to identify clinical factors associated with their use in patients with heart failure (HF) in a real-life setting.
Methods: Real-world data on Empagliflozin and Dapagliflozin use in patients with HEART failure: The RED-HEART study is a multicentre, cross-sectional and observational study that included HF patients in the outpatient setting regardless of ejection fraction from 19 cardiology centres between August 2023 and December 2023.
Results: The study population consisted of 1923 patients with HF, predominantly men (61.

Intramyocardial dissecting hematoma (IDH) is a rare condition mostly seen following acute myocardial infarction, chest trauma, and cardiac surgery. It is described as an incomplete rupture caused by hemorrhagic dissection within the myocardium, rather than extending to the epicardial layer. Management strategies for IDH are controversial due to limited reports.

The positive impact of sodium-glucose cotransporter-2 inhibitors (SGLT2i) on cardiovascular events and mortality in these patients has been demonstrated by previous studies although the mechanism is unclear.
Aims: We aimed to compare the influence of SGLT2i on left ventricular remodeling and strain in diabetic patients with coronary artery disease (CAD) and without CAD during 6-month follow-up.
Purpose: Inappropriate dosing of direct oral anticoagulants is associated with an increased risk of stroke, systemic embolism, major bleeding, cardiovascular hospitalization, and death in patients with atrial fibrillation. The main goal of the study was to determine the prevalence and associated factors of inappropriate dosing of direct oral anticoagulants in real-life settings.
Methods: This study was a multicenter, cross-sectional, observational study that included 2004 patients with atrial fibrillation.
Background: The failure rate of vascular closure devices remains a significant cause of major vascular complications in contemporary transcatheter aortic valve implantation practice.
Methods: This research aimed to evaluate use of the Angio-Seal device in a bailout context in the setting of incomplete hemostasis following use of dual Perclose ProGlide devices in patients undergoing transfemoral transcatheter aortic valve implantation. A total of 185 patients undergoing transfemoral transcatheter aortic valve implantation with either dual Per-close ProGlide (n = 139) or a combination of dual Perclose ProGlide and Angio-Seal (n = 46) were retrospectively analyzed.
Introduction: Up to one-third of patients indicated for transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) may be unsuitable for transfemoral TAVI (TF-TAVI) according to manufacturers' recommendations and numerous professional societies.
Objective: This study aimed to investigate the predictive value of manufacturers' guidelines for major vascular access site complications using the Perclose ProGlide device.
Methods: Among 208 patients undergoing TF-TAVI, 144 patients (69.
Objective: The purpose of this study was to explore the efficacy of the triglyceride glucose (TyG) index on in-hospital mortality in nondiabetic coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) patients with myocardial injury.
Methods: This was a retrospective study, which included 218 nondiabetic COVID-19 patients who had myocardial injury. The TyG index was derived using the following equation: log [serum triglycerides (mg/dL) ×fasting blood glucose (mg/dL)/2].
Introduction: The current investigation intended to evaluate the correlation between eosinophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (ELR) and the coronary slow-flow phenomenon (CSFP) in patients undergoing elective coronary angiography.
Material And Methods: A case-control investigation was conducted on 200 individual CSFP patients and another 200 individuals with normal coronary arteries and who were matched for age, gender, and body mass index. ELR was computed by dividing the number of eosinophils by the number of lymphocytes.
Preclinical biomedical and pharmaceutical research on disease causes, drug targets, and side effects increasingly relies onmodels of human tissue. 3D printing offers unique opportunities for generating models of superior physiological accuracy, as well as for automating their fabrication. Towards these goals, we here describe a simple and scalable methodology for generating physiologically relevant models of skeletal muscle.

In this study, we sought to assess the incidence, impact, and predictors of VCs in transfemoral (TF) TAVI and also investigated the predictive role of manufacturer's size charts and a new predictor modified sheath-to-femoral artery ratio.
Methods: A total of 223 patients undergoing TF-TAVI were categorized into 2 groups.
The number of successful drug development projects has been stagnant for decades despite major breakthroughs in chemistry, molecular biology, and genetics. Unreliable target identification and poor translatability of preclinical models have been identified as major causes of failure. To improve predictions of clinical efficacy and safety, interest has shifted to three-dimensional culture methods in which human cells can retain many physiologically and functionally relevant phenotypes for extended periods of time.

In this study, our main objective was to assess the long-term effects of the overlapping applications of both DESolve-DESolve and the drug-eluting stent (DES)-DESolve.
Methods: A single-centered study of 103 patients scheduled for DESolve placement for long-segment lesions (>28 mm) was conducted (October 2013 to November 2016).
P-wave dispersion (PWD) obtained from the standard 12-lead electrocardiography (ECG) is considered to reflect the homogeneity of the atrial electrical activity. The aim of this investigation was to evaluate the effect of percutaneous chronic total occlusion (CTO) revascularization on the parameters of P wave duration and PWD on ECG in cases before and after procedure at 12 months. We analyzed 90 consecutive CTO cases who were on sinus rhythm and underwent percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI).

A key step for decoding signalling cues is the establishment of a permissive chromatin environment at lineage-specific genes triggering transcriptional responses to inductive signals. For instance, bipotent neuromesodermal progenitors (NMPs) are equipped with a WNT-decoding module, which relies on TCFs/LEF activity to sustain both NMP expansion and paraxial mesoderm differentiation.

A total of 120 patients who underwent TAVI due to severe AS were retrospectively included in our study. The main outcome of the study was MACEs and short-term all-cause mortality at 6 months.

However, the best strategy of switching from ticagrelor to clopidogrel is unclear. Current guidelines advocate clopidogrel bridging with a 600 mg loading dose (LD).

Nutritional characteristics were evaluated by novel Controlling Nutritional status (CONUT), the prognostic nutritional index (PNI) and the geriatric nutritional risk index (GNRI) scores. The impact of these scores on major outcomes in 253 NSTEMI patients over 60 years and older were assessed.

Introduction: Elevated risk of adverse events in comparison to metallic stents resulted in withdrawal of everolimus-eluting bioresorbable scaffolds (eBVS), known as the most intensively studied BVS. There is a paucity of data comparing the two different BVS.
Aim: To evaluate the long-term clinical outcomes of the novolimus-eluting bioresorbable vascular scaffold (nBVS) compared with eBVS.
Objective: Bioresorbable vascular scaffolds (BVSs) have been a disappointment in the evolution of drug-eluting stents used in percutaneous coronary intervention because an excessive number of thrombotic complications have been reported. The aim of this study was to evaluate long-term clinical outcomes of the Absorb BVS in patients treated using a predilation, proper sizing, and post-dilation implantation technique.
Methods: The records of 110 patients who had a total of 150 Absorb BVSs implanted were retrospectively analyzed.
