Liver fibrosis is a progressive condition characterized by excessive deposition of extracellular matrix components, leading to organ dysfunction. Chronic inflammation and activation of hepatic stellate cells (HSCs) are two dominant events in all stages of fibrosis development. The receptor for advanced glycation end products (RAGE) pathway is involved in modulating liver injury and fibrosis, and preventing it, or deletion of Ager gene can protect the liver against fibrosis progression.

Therefore, understanding the aging process of podocytes will allow us to understand their susceptibility to injury and identify targeted protective mechanisms. In fact, the process of physiological aging itself can induce podocyte senescence.

Methods: Immunofluorescence of anti-PLA2R and THSD7A antibodies and kidney tissue PLA2R, THSD7A and IgG4 expression in IMN and non-IMN (2020-2021) was detected to assess the efficacy of diagnosing IMN. IMN patients were divided into two groups, anti-PLA2R antibody positive (161 cases) and negative (26 cases), and two groups, kidney tissue PLA2R (40 cases) and PLA2R+THSD7A (6 cases), to compare the clinical and pathological features, and to carry out a prognostic analysis of THSD7A-positive patients, with a focus on correlation with malignancy.

Endo-1,4-β-xylanase is a key xylanolytic enzyme, and our study aimed to enhance the catalytic properties of Alteromones Macleadii xylanase (Xyn ZT-2) through sequence-guided design approach. Analysis of the amino acid sequence revealed highly conserved residues near the active site, with few differences. Introducing various mutations allowed us to modify the enzyme's catalytic performance.

Gastrodin has been widely investigated for food and medical applications. The last biosynthetic step for gastrodin is UDP-glycosyltransferase (UGT)-mediated glycosylation with UDP-glucose (UDPG) as glycosyl donor.

The incidence of CNP has been increasing in the world, causing it to become a global concern and patients often experience spontaneous pain, hyperalgesia, abnormal pain or even abnormal sensation as some of its main symptoms. In addition to serious pain and poor physical health, CNP also negatively affects patients' mental health, thus impacting the overall quality of their lives.

Methods: The data of two hundred and eighty-three patients with HCM (n = 48) or DCM (n = 52) and NOR (n = 123) were extracted from two publicly available datasets. Ten feature selection methods were first performed on twenty-one different sets of radiomics features extracted from the left ventricle, right ventricle, and myocardium segmented from CMR images in the end-diastolic frame, end-systolic frame, and a combination of both; then, nine classical machine learning methods were trained with the selected radiomics features to distinguish HCM, DCM, and NOR.
A xylanase gene xynZT-1 from Alteromonas macleodii HY35 was cloned and expressed in Escherichia coli (E. coli). The sequencing results showed that the ORF of xynZT-1 was 831 bp.

A novel actinobacterium, designated CFH 10395, was isolated from the foregut of grass carp (), which had been fed with ginseng extract supplement. The taxonomic position was investigated by a polyphasic approach. Cells of CFH 10395 were Gram-staining-positive, aerobic, ovoid-shaped, non-spore-forming and non-motile.

In this work, we developed a novel immobilization technology using 3D bioprinting for laccase immobilization. The hydrogel mechanism properties were optimized by experimenting with different component ratios of sodium alginate (SA), acrylamide (AM), and hydroxyapatite (HA).

Further studies have shown the significant therapeutic effect of oncolytic virotherapy combining with other strategies, such as chemo-, radio-, and immunotherapy et al. In this study, we investigated the combinational effect of oncolytic virus ZD55-TRAIL and chemotherapy drug doxorubicin (DOX) on human laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma (LSCC).

PUF was treated with hydrochloric acid to increase the active sites and then the active carboxyl groups and amino groups were exposed. Enzyme activity of lipase immobilized on PUF-HCL (8000 U/g) was 50% higher than that of lipase immobilized on PUF (5300 U/g).

Objective: To investigate the changes of serum anti-schistosome antibody titers in schistosomiasis japonica patients after treatment, in order to provide the evidence for formulating the schistosomiasis surveillance program in marshland and lake regions.
Methods: Upon prospective cohort study, the stool examination positive schistosomiasis patients and blood examination positive suspected patients (the titer was more than 1:80, including 1:80) were selected as the research objects in Jiangling County in 2014, and they received the 2-day praziquantel therapy. Half year, one year and two years after the treatment, their blood samples and fecal samples were collected for IHA anti-schistosome antibody detections and schistosome egg and miracidium detections.

Objective: To understand the spatial distribution characteristics of wild feces in schistosomiasis endemic areas of Jiangling County, Hubei Province and further explore the source of infection efficiently, so as to provide the evidence for the development of corresponding monitoring and response technology.
Methods: In 2011, the fresh wild feces were investigated every two months in the selected 15 villages by the severity of historical endemic in Jiangling County. The schistosome miracidium hatching method was used to test the schistosome infection of the wild feces.

Objective: To investigate the effects and cost of four formulations of niclosamide ethanolamine salt in snail control in the field in marshland and lake regions, so as to provide the evidence for drawing up the plan of molluscicide using in schistosomiasis endemic areas.
Methods: One drainage channel and one channel without water in the same area with snails in Jiangling County, Jingzhou City were selected as the research fields. The drainage channel was divided into 9 sections, except one section as a blank control group where the natural death rate of snails was observed only, and the remaining 8 sections were taken as the observation groups, where different dosages of 4% niclosamide ethanolamine salt powder, 5% niclosamide ethanolamine salt granules, 25% niclosamide ethanolamine salt suspending agent, 26% metaldehyde and niclosamide ethanolamine salt suspending agent, and 50% niclosamide ethanolamine salt wettable powder were used respectively.

Glycerol waste from the biodiesel production can be used as a carbon source in the production of 1,3-propanediol (1,3-PD) through microbial fermentation. However, downstream processing is a major bottleneck that restricts its biological production. Here, we investigated an environmentally-friendly method to enzymatically separate 1,3-PD.

In this work, glucose oxidase (GOD) and catalase (CAT) were used simultaneously to produce gluconic acid from glucose. In order to reduce the distance between the two enzymes, and therefore improve efficiency, GOD and CAT were cross-linked together using genipin. Improvements in gluconic acid production were due to quick removal of harmful intermediate hydrogen peroxide by CAT.

The immobilization of Ylip2 on celite led to a remarkable increase in the phytosterol conversion compared to that of free lipase. An investigation of the reaction conditions were oleic acid as the fatty acid variety, 10,000U/g substrate, and a temperature of 50°C for phytosterol ester synthesis.
