Article Synopsis
  • Forniceal rupture due to acute ureteral obstruction is common, but spontaneous ureteral rupture is rare and often associated with kidney stones at the ureteropelvic junction.
  • A unique case is presented where stone-induced ureteral rupture occurred below the UPJ, leading to bacterial and fungal superinfections that did not respond to conservative treatment.
  • This situation ultimately resulted in the need for nephrectomy and has not been previously reported, highlighting the importance of quick diagnosis and management to prevent severe complications like urinoma, sepsis, and kidney loss.
