Aim: The objectives of this study were to determine the prevalence of burnout risk and intention-to-leave among intensive care unit (ICU) nurses and analyse the association of these with workload and work environment.
Design: A cross-sectional survey of nurses working in ICUs was conducted in France between 15 January 2024 and 15 April 2024 alongside a longitudinal assessment of workload during the same period.
Methods: ICU nurse workload was assessed using the Nursing Activities Score (NAS).

Background: Nurse retention is a major concern in healthcare settings, especially among intensive care units (ICU), in which nurses are highly specialized. The objective was to describe the nurse courses after their entrance into the ICU, their motivation for leaving the ICU, and to identify the independent factors that influenced the nurse resignation from their units.
Methods: In 3 different centers, every ICU nurse working between 2013 and 2023 was telephonically contacted and was asked to describe their career and, when appropriate, the reasons that influenced their resignation from their units; they rated on a Likert scale of 14 factors that influenced their decision.
Movements are performed by motoneurons transforming synaptic inputs into an activation signal that controls muscle force. The control signal emerges from interactions between ionotropic and neuromodulatory inputs to motoneurons. Critically, these interactions vary across motoneuron pools and differ between muscles.

To this end, a paper questionnaire was distributed in the critical care department of the Lyon-Sud hospital. Among the care team, 67% had developed PTC, showing that despite the difficulties experienced during the trauma, the team had managed to grow from this crisis.

Methods: We conducted a case-control study using the EFEMERIS cohort, a database containing pregnancies registered in Haute-Garonne and their outcomes. We collected OA descriptions of fetuses at the time of pregnancy termination or of children at birth and the results of eye examinations of children at 9 months and 2 years of age.
The ultimate neural signal for muscle control is the neural drive sent from the spinal cord to muscles. This neural signal comprises the ensemble of action potentials discharged by the active spinal motoneurons, which is transmitted to the innervated muscle fibres to generate forces. Accurately estimating the neural drive to muscles in humans in vivo is challenging since it requires the identification of the activity of a sample of motor units (MUs) that is representative of the active MU population.

Objective: The main objective of this article is to evaluate the prevalence of burnout syndrome (BOS) among the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) healthcare workers.
Methods: The COVID-impact study is a study conducted in 6 French intensive care units. Five units admitting COVID patient and one that doesn't admit COVID patients.
We present a case of probable invasive pulmonary aspergillosis due to Aspergillus flavus, in a female patient treated for an acute myeloid leukemia. Two weeks after an allogenic stem cell transplantation a probable invasive pulmonary aspergillosis was diagnosed based on thoracic imaging combined with positive galactomannan antigen and positive in-house mitochondrial Aspergillus qPCR in serum. Although an antifungal treatment was initiated, Aspergillus qPCR and galactomannan antigen remained positive in serum and worsening of the thoracic lesions was observed.

These approaches are limited in accuracy or provide information on only small partitions of the MN population. Here, we propose a method based on the combination of high-density EMG (HDEMG) data and realistic modelling for predicting the behaviour of entire pools of motoneurons in humans.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFOur understanding of the behaviour of spinal alpha-motoneurons (MNs) in mammals partly relies on our knowledge of the relationships between MN membrane properties, such as MN size, resistance, rheobase, capacitance, time constant, axonal conduction velocity, and afterhyperpolarization duration. We reprocessed the data from 40 experimental studies in adult cat, rat, and mouse MN preparations to empirically derive a set of quantitative mathematical relationships between these MN electrophysiological and anatomical properties. This validated mathematical framework, which supports past findings that the MN membrane properties are all related to each other and clarifies the nature of their associations, is besides consistent with the Henneman's size principle and Rall's cable theory.
