Aim: EBV encodes at least 44 miRNAs involved in immune regulation and disease progression. Exosomes can be used as carriers of EBV-miRNA-BART intercellular transmission and affect the biological behavior of cells. We characterized exosomes and established a co-culture experiment of exosomes to explore the mechanism of miR-BART1-3p transmission through the exosome pathway and its influence on tumor cell proliferation and invasion.

Background: Bone is the most common site of metastatic breast cancer (MBC). EDTA is often used to decalcify bony tissue samples to ensure the accurate assessment of antigenicity in MBC. It takes ~24 to 48 hours to decalcify small bone tissues such as bone marrow, which is considered unacceptable given the priority that is often placed on the rapid processing of bone marrow trephine cores.

Article Synopsis
  • The CXCL family, important growth factors linked to tumor development, show abnormal expression levels in Epstein-Barr virus-associated gastric cancer (EBVaGC), making their study crucial for understanding prognosis.
  • Researchers analyzed CXCL mRNA expression levels in cancer data, used statistical methods to evaluate prognostic significance, and identified related transcription factors and miRNAs.
  • Findings revealed significant differences in CXCL expression between EBVaGC and normal gastric tissues, with higher levels of certain CXCLs associated with better overall survival in patients.

Colorectal cancer (CRC) is one of the leading causes of cancer‑associated mortality. Asiaticoside (AC) exhibits antitumor effects; however, to the best of our knowledge, the biological function of AC in CRC cells remains unclear. Therefore, the aim of the present study was to investigate the effect of AC on CRC cells.

Preserving the antigen effectiveness and DNA when bleaching melanin from melanin-containing tissues is an important part of medical diagnosis. Some prior studies focused excessively on the speed of bleaching neglecting the preservation of antigen and DNA, especially the nucleic acids in the long-archived tissues. The approach of this study was to determine the optimal bleaching conditions by increasing the HO concentration and to compare that with the high temperature and potassium-permanganate bleaching methods.

Esophageal carcinoma (EsC) is a clinically challenging neoplastic disease. Genistein, a natural isoflavone product, has anti-tumor properties. Through and studies, we found that genistein suppressed EsC cell proliferation in a time- and concentration-dependent manner.

Objective: To investigate the correlation of microRNA-155 (miR-155) expression with clinicopathological features of patients with papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC) and explore the value of miR-155 in prognostic assessment of PTC.

Methods: We collected 86 pairs of fresh PTC and adjacent tissues to examine the expression of miR-155 using fluorescent quantitative PCR. miR-155 expressions in the tissues were analyzed in relation to the clinicopathological features of the patients.
