Background: Mrp 8/14 is abundantly secreted by activated neutrophils during infection and inflammation. However, its prognostic value in acute respiratory distress dyndrome (ARDS) induced by sepsis is poorly understood. Our aim was to investigate the relationship between serum Mrp 8/14 and the prognosis in sepsis-induced ARDS patients admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU).

River water quality is influenced by natural processes and human activities. Multi-scale landscape patterns can affect river water quality by altering the generation and transport processes of pollutants at different spatial scales. Taking Taizi River Basin in Northeast China as an example, we analyzed the relationship between landscape patterns and non-point source pollution in rivers based on water quality monitoring data and land use data by using correlation analysis and redundancy analysis methods.

Background: To date, there are no studies regarding the Mrp 8/14 in predicting the occurrence of acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) induced by sepsis. Thus, the objective of this study was to investigate the expression of Myeloid-related proteins 8 and 14 (Mrp 8/14) and its role in ARDS induced by sepsis.

Methods: A total of 168 septic patients were enrolled in the observational study.

The latest surveillance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention shows that the annual incidence of infection is increasing. Unfortunately, in less well-known high-risk groups, this infection is usually excluded from differential diagnosis. Transmitted through wound exposure or ingestion, the mortality rate of foodborne diseases of is the highest of all .

Background: The role of thyroid hormones is crucial in the response to stress and critical illness, which has been reported to be closely associated with a poor prognosis in patients admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU). This study aimed to explore the relationship between thyroid hormone and prognosis in septic shock patients.

Methods: A total of 186 patients with septic shock were enrolled in the analytical study between December 2014 and September 2022.

Providing universal quality health services is one of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) to achieve by 2030. We evaluated the sustainable and coordinated development of urban and rural medical care from 2008-2017 in Dalian, China, by developing an evaluation system based on population and health services. We used a comprehensive development index model and a coupling coordination model to evaluate the status and sustainable development of population and medical services in Dalian.

Objective: To investigate the predictive value of different glycemic variability indexes within 6 hours on the short-term prognosis of septic shock patients.

Methods: A retrospective study was conducted. The 133 patients with septic shock admitted to intensive care unit (ICU) of Nanjing Hospital Affiliated to Nanjing Medical University from December 2014 to December 2019 were enrolled.

How to effectively reduce the disparity between urban and rural medical healthcare has become a major global concern. In China, the government has issued a series of reform measures to address the gap between urban and rural medical care. To explore the impact of China's medical system reforms in improving health services in urban and rural areas and understand the factors promoting and hindering progress, we evaluated the healthcare system in Dalian City, China, from 2008 to 2017.

Research on the sustainable development of the marine economy has conventionally revolved around the relationship between efficiency and development. However, most studies have neglected examining how excessive marine resource inputs under certain conditions may lead to resource congestion that restricts output efficiency and sustainable development. To fill this research gap, we optimized an index system to evaluate the input level of marine resources.

Article Synopsis
  • Researchers identified distinct patterns of lncRNA expression using microarray analysis and qRT-PCR, revealing 70 up-regulated and 128 down-regulated lncRNAs in IS patients compared to healthy controls and those with transient ischemic attack (TIA).
  • A lncRNA-based biomarker panel showed strong potential for diagnosing IS, outperforming traditional markers like BDNF and NSE, particularly in tracking disease progression and severity post-treatment.

Background: Dobutamine, a commonly used vasoactive drug, has been reported to reduce pulmonary edema and protect against acute lung injury (ALI) by up-regulating aquaporin 5 (AQP5) expressions. However, the underlying mechanism is still elusive.

Methods: ALI was induced by intravenous injection of LPS.

In order to correctly evaluate wetland ecological benefit and restoration in the natural reserves of western Jilin Province, an index system of wetland ecological benefit assessment for nature reserves was established based on ecosystem service theory and catastrophe theory. Considering the diversity characteristics of ecological benefit, and consulting the research results of ecological benefit in study area in 2001, the analytic hierarchy process and entropy method were introduced to analyze the ecological benefit and restoration in 2005 and 2012. The results showed that the ecological benefit level was very high in Momoge Nature Reserve since 2005, high in Chaganhu and Xianghai nature reserves, and moderate in Dabusu Nature Reserve.
