Yeast culture plus enzymatically hydrolyzed yeast cell wall (YC-EHY) contains crude protein, mannan-oligosaccharide, β-glucan and yeast culture. This study was carried out to explore the effects of dietary YC-EHY at different levels on growth performance, antioxidant capacity, and immune function of broiler chickens. A total of 320 one-day-age male broiler chicks were allocated into 4 groups and were fed with a basal diet supplemented with 0 mg/kg (the control group), 50 mg/kg, 100 mg/kg, 150 mg/kg YC-EHY for 42 d.

Spatio-temporally expressed sorbitol transporters cooperatively regulate sorbitol accumulation in pear fruit.

Sorbitol is the primary substrate translocated from source to sink in pear species. Among the many sorbitol transporters (SOTs), some are known to be involved in sorbitol accumulation in fruit; however, their particular roles are unclear. In this study, we examined the transcriptome and metabolome of a variety of pear samples from six time points to identify those SOTs.

Steroidal glycosides from the underground parts of and their anti-inflammatory activities in mice.

Two new pregnane glycosides, 2α, 3β-dihydroxy-5α-pregn-16-en-20-one-3-O-{α-L-rhamnopyranosyl-(1→2)-[β-D-glucopyranosyl-(1→4)]-β-D-galactopyranoside} () and 2α, 3β-dihydroxy-5α-pregn-16-en-20-one-3-O-{β-D-glucopyranosyl-(1→2)-[β-D-xylopyranosyl-(1→3)]-β-D-glucopyranosyl-(1→4)-β-D-galactopyranoside}(), have been isolated along with two known spirostanol saponins from the underground parts of . Their structures were elucidated on the basis of chemical and spectral evidence. The anti-inflammatory activities of these steroidal glycosides were evaluated using a xylene-induced ear edema model.
