Diabetes is a risk factor for poor COVID-19 prognosis. The analysis of related prognostic factors in diabetic patients with COVID-19 would be helpful for further treatment of such patients. This retrospective study involved 3623 patients with COVID-19 (325 with diabetes).

Experiences and challenges in the health protection of medical teams in the Chinese Ebola treatment center, Liberia: a qualitative study.

Background: Health care workers are at the frontline in the fight against infectious disease, and as a result are at a high risk of infection. During the 2014-2015 Ebola outbreak in West Africa, many health care workers contracted Ebola, some fatally. However, no members of the Chinese Anti-Ebola medical team, deployed to provide vital medical care in Liberia were infected.

Clinical and experimental study on angiopoietin-like protein 8 associated with proliferative diabetic retinopathy.

Aim: To confirm the role of angiopoietin-like protein 8 (Angptl 8) in proliferative diabetic retinopathy (PDR).

Methods: The sera and aqueous humor of 10 PDR patients and 10 non-diabetic retinopathy (NDR) patients (idiopathic macular hole patients) were collected and the expression of Angptl 8 was detected by enzyme linked immune-sorbent assay (ELISA). Experimental diabetes mice model was induced with streptozotocin.
