2D van der Waals (vdW) magnets open landmark horizons in the development of innovative spintronic device architectures. However, their fabrication with large scale poses challenges due to high synthesis temperatures (>500 °C) and difficulties in integrating them with standard complementary metal-oxide semiconductor (CMOS) technology on amorphous substrates such as silicon oxide (SiO) and silicon nitride (SiN). Here, a seeded growth technique for crystallizing CrTe films on amorphous SiN/Si and SiO/Si substrates with a low thermal budget is presented.

One of the hallmarks of multicomponent metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) is to finely tune their active centers to achieve product selectivity. In particular, obtaining bimetallic MOF hollow structures with precisely tailored redox centers under the same topology is still challenging despite a recent surge of such efforts. Herein, we present an engineering strategy named "cluster labilization" to generate hierarchically porous MOF composites with hollow structures and tunable active centers.

In designing multifunctional materials for potential switches that can be used as memory devices, the high-spin (HS) to low-spin (LS) crossover (SCO) one-dimensional polymer, [Fe(L)(4,4'-bpy)] , was constructed from a designed redox-active tetrathiafulvalene (TTF) functionalized Schiff-base and the ditopic linker 4,4'-bipyridine (bpy). It exhibits an 8 K hysteretic SCO centred at = 325 K which is coupled to changes in its dielectric constant. The crystal structures above and below the transition temperature reveal similar parallel linear ···Fe-bpy-Fe-bpy··· chains displaying expansion of the Fe octahedron in the HS state.

We report a facile approach to stabilize Fe3O4 nanoparticles (NPs) by using tetrathiafulvalene carboxylate (TTF-COO(-)) and to control electron transport with an enhanced magnetoresistance (MR) effect in TTF-COO-Fe3O4 NP assemblies. This TTF-COO-coating is advantageous over other conventional organic coatings, making it possible to develop stable Fe3O4 NP arrays for sensitive spintronics applications.

Article Synopsis
  • Acute coronary involvement (ACI) from acute aortic dissection (AAD) type A poses serious health risks, and a study analyzed characteristics of affected patients over 14 years.
  • The study included 20 patients with ACI, revealing that they were generally younger, had a higher rate of aortic regurgitation, and less frequently experienced intramural hematoma compared to others.
  • A new 4-category classification was proposed to assist surgeons in determining treatment for patients with ACI due to AAD type A, highlighting that ACI isn't always linked to coronary malperfusion.
