Article Synopsis
  • The study investigates how Hesperidin may help alleviate depression-like behaviors by inhibiting ferritinophagy in a mouse model exposed to chronic unpredictable mild stress (CUMS).
  • Key methods include administering varying doses of Hesperidin and analyzing its effects on dendritic spines, tissue iron levels, and metabolic components in blood and brain tissue.
  • Results suggest that Hesperidin could mitigate depressive symptoms by regulating dendritic spines through the inhibition of a specific protein interaction (NCOA4-ferritinophagy).

Background: Aquaporin-8 (AQP8) is involved in impacting glioma proliferation and can effect tumour growth by regulating Intracellular reactive oxygen species (ROS) signalling levels. In addition to transporting HO, AQP8 has been shown to affect ROS signaling, but evidence is lacking in gliomas. In this study, we aimed to investigate how AQP8 affects ROS signaling in gliomas.

Objective: This study aimed to evaluate the methodological quality of existing meta-analyses (MA) and the quality of evidence for outcome indicators to provide an updated overview of the evidence concerning the therapeutic efficacy of the Mediterranean diet (MD) for various types of CVD.

Design: We conducted comprehensive searches of PubMed, Cochrane Library, and Embase databases. The quality of the MA was assessed using the A Measurement Tool to Assess Systematic Reviews 2 (AMSTAR 2) checklist, while the Grading of Recommendations Assessment, Development and Evaluation (GRADE) evidence evaluation system was employed to evaluate the quality of evidence for significant outcomes.

GaO-based Ultraviolet-C photodetector (UVCPD) is considered the most promising UVCPD at present and is divided into Metal-Semiconductor-Metal (MSM) and PN junction types. Compared with MSM-PDs, PN-PDs exhibit superior transient performance due to the built-in electric field. However, current GaO-based PN-PDs lack consideration for carrier collection and electric field distribution.

Objective: Cupping therapy is an ancient technique of healing used to treat a variety of ailments. An evidence-mapping study was conducted to summarize the existing evidence of cupping therapy for pain-related outcomes and indicate the effect and the quality of evidence to provide a comprehensive view of what is known.

Methods: PubMed, Cochrane Library, Embase, and Web of Science were searched to collect the meta-analyses investigating the association between cupping therapy and pain-related outcomes.

Article Synopsis
  • AQP8 is a protein that is found in higher amounts in brain tumors called gliomas compared to normal brain tissue, and it seems to help these tumors grow and spread.
  • Scientists used special techniques to change the amount of AQP8 in certain glioma cells and studied how it affected the cells' growth and movement.
  • They discovered that having more AQP8 made glioma cells grow and spread more, while reducing AQP8 had the opposite effect, suggesting that AQP8 could be an important target for treating gliomas.

Purpose: The purpose of this work is to examine the impact of AQP8 on the proliferation and development of human glioma cell lines A172 and U251 and to determine if aquaporin 8 (AQP8) is associated with GSK-3β phosphorylation and nuclear transport of β-catenin in the Wnt signaling pathway.

Methods: AQP8 knockdown cell lines were constructed using a CRISPR/Cas9 double vector lentivirus infection. SAM/dCas9 was used to construct AQP8 overexpression cell lines and the CV084 lentivirus vector was used to construct AQP8 rescue cell lines.

Among the three existing targeted gene editing technologies, zinc-finger nucleases, transcription activator-like effector nucleases, and clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats-CRISPR-associated 9 (CRISPR-Cas9), the latter is widely used owing to its simplicity, efficiency, and low cost. Here, we routinely infected A172 and U251 cells with lentiviral vectors, in which aquaporin-8 (AQP8) was knocked out using CRISPR/Cas9. Our results indicated that cryopreservation did not significantly alter the viral infection efficiency, but influenced AQP8 expression in the infected cells at both protein and mRNA levels compared with the non-cryopreserved samples.

Objective: To compare the effect of electroacupuncture (EA), metformin and EA plus metformin on the cognitive ability and senile plaques (SPs) in cerebral cortex and hippocampus of Alzheimer's disease (AD) mice, so as to explore a better treatment method for AD.

Methods: Twenty-four male APP/PS1 mice were randomly divided into model, metformin (medication), EA and EA+medication groups, with 6 mice in each group. Other 6 male wild C57 mice were used as the control group.
