The pathway to health in all policies through intersectoral collaboration on the health workforce: a scoping review.

The health workforce (HWF) is a critical component of the health sector. Intersectoral/multisectoral collaboration and action is foundational to strengthening the HWF, enabling responsiveness to dynamic population health demands and supporting broader goals around social and economic development-such development underpins the need for health in all policies (HiAP). To identify what can be learned from intersectoral/multisectoral activity for HWF strengthening to advance HiAP, we carried out a scoping review.

Seasonal or pandemic illness caused by influenza A viruses (IAVs) is a major public health concern due to the high morbidity and notable mortality. Although there are several approved drugs targeting different mechanisms, the emergence of drug resistance calls for new drug candidates that can be used alone or in combinations. Small-molecule IAV entry inhibitor, ING-1466, binds to hemagglutinin (HA) and blocks HA-mediated viral infection.

How can intersectoral collaboration and action help improve the education, recruitment, and retention of the health and care workforce? A scoping review.

Inadequate numbers, maldistribution, attrition, and inadequate skill-mix are widespread health and care workforce (HCWF) challenges. Intersectoral-inclusive of different government sectors, non-state actors, and the private sector-collaboration and action are foundational to the development of a responsive and sustainable HCWF. This review presents evidence on how to work across sectors to educate, recruit, and retain a sustainable HCWF, highlighting examples of the benefits and challenges of intersectoral collaboration.

Theta oscillations (4-8 Hz) in humans play a role in navigation processes, including spatial encoding, retrieval and sensorimotor integration. Increased theta power at frontal and parietal midline regions is known to contribute to successful navigation. However, the dynamics of cortical theta and its role in spatial learning are not fully understood.

Bacterial lipoproteins (BLPs) decorate the surface of membranes in the cell envelope. They function in membrane assembly and stability, as enzymes, and in transport. The final enzyme in the BLP synthesis pathway is the apolipoprotein -acyltransferase, Lnt, which is proposed to act by a ping-pong mechanism.

Investigation into the Mechanism of Action of the Tuberculosis Drug Candidate SQ109 and Its Metabolites and Analogues in Mycobacteria.

We tested a series of SQ109 analogues against and , in addition to determining their uncoupling activity. We then investigated potential protein targets, involved in quinone and cell wall biosynthesis, using "rescue" experiments. There was little effect of menaquinone on growth inhibition by SQ109, but there were large increases in the IC of SQ109 and its analogues (up to 20×) on addition of undecaprenyl phosphate (Up), a homologue of the mycobacterial decaprenyl (C) diphosphate.

Preservation of long-term memory in older adults using a spaced learning paradigm.

How much information we retain depends on type/schedule of training. It has been widely acknowledged that spaced learning is advantageous compared to massed learning for cognitively healthy young adults and should be considered an educational standard. Literature would suggest that the spacing effect is preserved with age, though it is unclear whether this effect translates to more ecologically valid concepts such as face-name associations, which are particularly susceptible to deterioration with age.

Catalyzing dementia care through the learning health system and consumer health information technology.

To advance care for persons with Alzheimer's disease and related dementias (ADRD), real-world health system effectiveness research must actively engage those affected to understand what works, for whom, in what setting, and for how long-an agenda central to learning health system (LHS) principles. This perspective discusses how emerging payment models, quality improvement initiatives, and population health strategies present opportunities to embed best practice principles of ADRD care within the LHS. We discuss how stakeholder engagement in an ADRD LHS when embedding, adapting, and refining prototypes can ensure that products are viable when implemented.

The annual special issue of Evidence-Based Oncology™, a publication of The American Journal of Managed Care® (AJMC), features coverage of the 2022 Annual Meeting of the American Society of Clinical Oncology, held June 3-7, 2022, in Chicago, Illinois. Clinical trials presented during the meeting and summarized in the issue include DESTINY-Breast04, DETERMINATION, SHINE, and ECHELON-1. The issue features coverage from sessions addressing current issues in health policy and cancer care delivery, such as improving diversity in clinical trials and managing financial toxicity.

Thromboxane A G Protein-Coupled Receptor Production and Crystallization for Structure Studies.

G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) play vital roles in human physiology and pathophysiology. This makes the elucidation of the high-resolution blueprints of these high value membrane proteins of crucial importance for the structure-based design of novel therapeutics. However, the production and crystallization of GPCRs for structure determination comes with many challenges.

Improving health workforce governance: the role of multi-stakeholder coordination mechanisms and human resources for health units in ministries of health.

Background: A cohesive and strategic governance approach is needed to improve the health workforce (HW). To achieve this, the WHO Global Strategy on Human Resources for Health (HRH) promotes mechanisms to coordinate HRH stakeholders, HRH structures and capacity within the health sector to support the development and implementation of a comprehensive HW agenda and regular reporting through WHO's National Health Workforce Accounts (NHWA).

Methods: Using an adapted HRH governance framework for guidance and analysis, we explored the existence and operation of HRH coordination mechanisms and HRH structures in Malawi, Nepal, Sudan and additionally from a global perspective through 28 key informant interviews and a review of 165 documents.

Ebola Virus Entry Inhibitors.

Ebola virus (EBOV) is one of the most deadliest agents already known, causing periodic epidemic of a severe hemorrhagic fever disease in Africa. Although two monoclonal antibody (mAb) drugs have recently received approval in the USA, additional therapeutics are still needed to combat potential outbreaks of resistance variants and other closely related ebola viruses. In this chapter, we describe the current understanding of the EBOV entry process and summarize the approaches, strategies, and advances in discovery and development of EBOV entry inhibitors, including therapeutic antibodies, peptides, small molecules, natural products, and other chemical structures.

The chondrocyte-specific miR-140 miRNAs are necessary for normal endochondral bone growth in mice. miR-140 deficiency causes dwarfism and craniofacial deformity. However, the physiologically important targets of miR-140 miRNAs are still unclear.

Assessment of the role of the Edinburgh dysphagia score in referral triage in a national service evaluation of the urgent suspected upper gastrointestinal cancer pathway.

Background: The British Society of Gastroenterology has recommended the Edinburgh Dysphagia Score (EDS) to risk-stratify dysphagia referrals during the endoscopy COVID recovery phase.

Aims: External validation of the diagnostic accuracy of EDS and exploration of potential changes to improve its diagnostic performance.

Methods: A prospective multicentre study of consecutive patients referred with dysphagia on an urgent suspected upper gastrointestinal (UGI) cancer pathway between May 2020 and February 2021.
