An irreducible ankle-fracture dislocation in which the proximal fibular shaft fragment locks behind the posterior tibial tubercle is defined as "The Bosworth injury". Characteristically, this fracture is generally not reducible using closed methods. A high number of attempts can be counterproductive to get a good final functional result and it may also lead to the appearance of future complications.

The objective of the study was to assess the kidney function and long-term survival of patients who underwent OLT and required RRT during or in the immediate postoperative period. Medical records of OLT and postoperative RRT patients with over 6-month survival were reviewed between January 1, 2005, and December 31, 2015.

Secondary amyloidosis (AA) is a severe complication of progressed Crohn’s disease (CD) for which no effective treatment exists. We present the exceptional case of a 33 year-old male with moderate renal failure and proteinuria, who was simultaneously diagnosed with AA amyloid nephropathy and oligosymptomatic CD. He was treated with infliximab at 5mg/kg/8 weeks for 4 years, azathioprine at 1-1.

Due to the inadequate response to the previously established treatment, the pharmacotherapy was modified by introducing exenatide (up to 10 μg, twice daily) instead of insulin glargine, but maintaining the treatment with the diuretic and angiotensin II receptor antagonist drugs. Two months later, the patient exhibited a very important intolerance to exenatide (continuous nausea, vomiting, and dehydration), finally leading to ischemic acute renal failure.

We reviewed 184 consecutive OLT. Postoperative ARF was defined as a persistent rise of 50% increase or more of the S-creatinine (S-Cr).

We report a woman with HIV infection, who developed hypocomplementemic acute nephritic syndrome 10 days after an upper respiratory infection. Systemic diseases were excluded.

We performed a retrospective study of 184 consecutive OLT. Criteria for acute renal failure were: serum creatinine >1.

Objective: To report a case of Henoch-Schönlein purpura that appears to be related to the intake of clarithromycin for pharyngitis/tonsillitis.
Case Summary: We describe a case of Henoch-Schönlein associated with clarithromycin therapy in a 48-year-old white man with no history of allergic drug reactions. Four days after starting therapy, he came to our hospital emergency room because of a non-pruritic palpable purpuric rash on the trunk and extremities and arthralgias involving elbows and knees.

We report a 41-year-old man with hypomagnesemia, hypercalciuria, nephrocalcinosis, myopia and horizontal nystagmus. The hypomagnesemia was due to primary renal magnesium loss. He was diagnosed as having the syndrome of renal hypomagnesemia, hypercalciuria and nephrocalcinosis.

The clinical features and serological studies ruled out other causes of rhabdomyolysis. Drugs were stopped and hemodialysis was carried on for 14 days until diuresis occurred.

Antiglomerular basement membrane (anti-GBM) antibodies and anti-myeloperoxidase antibodies were positive. Renal biopsy revealed anti-GBM crescentic glomerulonephritis.

The objective of this study was to determine whether the porcine liver would support the metabolic functions of non-human primates and to establish the effect of hDAF expression in the prevention of hyperacute rejection of porcine livers transplanted into primates.
Methods: Five orthotopic liver xenotransplants from pig to baboon were carried out: three from unmodified pigs and two using livers from h-DAF transgenic pigs.
We describe a 36 year old man who was admitted to the hospital with dyspnea, edema of the lower limbs, arterial hypertension and oliguric renal failure. He had microhematuria and nephrotic range proteinuria, immunological tests were normal or negative. Renal biopsy revealed global (55%) or segmental glomeruloesclerosis, remaining glomeruli showed extracapillary proliferation (25%).
