Previous studies have demonstrated that CRFR1 in certain hypothalamic and preoptic brain areas is modified by chronic stress and during the postpartum period in female mice, although the potential hormonal contributors to these changes are unknown.
Methods: This study focused on determining the contributions of hormones associated with stress and the maternal period (glucocorticoids, prolactin, estradiol/progesterone) on CRFR1 levels using a CRFR1-GFP reporter mouse line and immunohistochemistry.
In this mixed computational and experimental study, we report a catalytic system for alkane C-C functionalization in which the responsible step for C-H bond activation shows no barrier in the potential energy path. DFT modeling of three silver-based catalysts and four diazo compounds led to the conclusion that the TpAg═C(H)CF (Tp = fluorinated trispyrazolylborate ligand) carbene intermediates interact with methane without a barrier in the potential energy surface, a prediction validated by experimentation using N═C(H)CF as the carbene source. The array of alkanes from propane to -hexane led to the preferential functionalization of the primary sites with unprecedented values of selectivity for an acceptor diazo compound.

After CAR-T failure, survival outcomes are heterogeneous and a prognostic model in this patient population is lacking. A training cohort of 216 patients with progressive disease (PD) after CAR-T from 12 Spanish centers was used to develop the Post-CAR Prognostic Index (PC-PI); primary endpoint was overall survival (OS) from CAR-T progression.

Study Design: Retrospective cohort.
Setting: Tertiary care center.
Objective: This retrospective single center study aims to describe changes in the severity and organ-specific distribution of GvHD, by comparing the outcomes of 3 distinct GvHD prophylaxis approaches.
Methods: Between January 2012 and June 2022, 226 patients underwent allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation from HLA-matched or 1-allele mismatched related or unrelated donors. Fifty-eight (26%) received prophylaxis with calcineurin inhibitor in combination with mycophenolate mofetil or a short course of methotrexate (Cohort-1), 87 (38%) tacrolimus plus sirolimus (Cohort-2), and 81 (36%) post-transplant cyclophosphamide (PTCy) plus tacrolimus (Cohort-3).
NaV(PO)F (NVPF), a typical sodium superionic conductor (NASICON) type structure, has attracted much interest as a potential positive electrode in sodium-ion battery. However, the inherently poor electronic conductivity of phosphates compromises the electrochemical properties of this material. Here, we develop a general strategy to improve the electrochemical performance by preparing a new composite material "polyaniline (PANI)@NVPF" using a Pickering emulsion method.

However, elderly patients might not be candidates for this therapy due to its toxicity, and criteria for candidate selection are lacking. Our aim was to analyze efficacy and toxicity results of CAR-T cell therapy in the population of patients 70 years and older as compared to those obtained in younger patients in the real-world setting.

It was introduced to the plastics market in 1998 and since then has been widely used around the world. The main idea of this research is to perform quantum chemical calculations to study the potential toxicity of PBAT and its degradation products.

Exposure to wood smoke (WS) is a risk factor for COPD in women, but the effect of the combined exposure to tobacco smoke (TS) in the general population and among COPD patients, and the characteristics of WS-COPD are unclear.
Method: This was an analysis of data from PREPOCOL (Prevalence of COPD in Five Colombian Cities Situated at Low, Medium, and High Altitude), a random cross-sectional population-based study ( = 5,539) focusing on the effect of combined WS and TS exposure and WS-COPD characterisation.
: To examine relationships between sleep, alcohol consumption, and a physiological and behavioral marker of cognitive function in college students. College students are in a high risk category for high alcohol consumption and poor sleep quality, two unhealthful behaviors which can lead to poor mental health outcomes and compromised academic performance. : Thirty college students from a large midwestern institution.

Introduction: The present systematic review analyses the role of soluble fms-like tyrosine kinase-1 (sFLT-1) as an indirect biomarker of endothelial dysfunction in sepsis or septic shock from articles published in PubMed between 2010 and March 2022.
Materials And Methods: A systematic review of studies studying sFLT-1 monitoring in intensive care units in adults with sepsis or septic shock vs. controls for sepsis diagnosis and prognosis has been carried out (PROSPERO CRD42023412929 Registry).
Over 60% of relapsed/refractory (R/R) large B-cell lymphoma (LBCL) patients who receive chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T cells will experience disease progression. There is no standard next line of therapy and information in this setting is scarce and heterogeneous. We analyzed 387 R/R LBCL patients who progressed after CAR T cells from July 2018 until March 2022 in Spain and the United Kingdom.

Awareness of implicit bias has been increasing in the realm of diabetes care. Here, the authors highlight several types of unconscious bias on the part of clinicians and patients, including biases based on race, ethnicity, and obesity.

Background: Differences in the prevalence of four diabetes subgroups have been reported in Mexico compared to other populations, but factors that may contribute to these differences are poorly understood. Here, we estimate the prevalence of diabetes subgroups in Mexico and evaluate their correlates with indicators of social disadvantage using data from national representative surveys.
Methods: We analyzed serial, cross-sectional Mexican National Health and Nutrition Surveys spanning 2016, 2018, 2020, 2021, and 2022, including 23,354 adults (>20 years).
Lithium-sulphur (Li-S) batteries offer high energy density compared to lithium-ion batteries, emerging as a promising technology for the next generation of energy storage systems. The ongoing challenge is to improve their electrochemical performance, extend their useful life and mitigate some problems that persist in this technology, by the investigation in materials with diverse properties. This work seeks to elucidate the importance and repercussions associated with functionalisation of graphene-based materials through nitrogen incorporation (more than 9 wt.

We aimed to evaluate the risk of incident comorbidity among patients with chronic postsurgical hypoparathyroidism in real-life clinical practice in Spain.
Methods: We performed a multicenter, retrospective cohort study including patients with chronic postsurgical hypoparathyroidism lasting ≥3 years with at least a follow-up visit between January 1, 2022 and September 15, 2023 (group H).
Bicuspid aortic valve (BAV), the most common congenital heart disease, is prone to develop significant valvular dysfunction and aortic wall abnormalities such as ascending aortic aneurysm. Growing evidence has suggested that abnormal BAV hemodynamics could contribute to disease progression. In order to investigate BAV hemodynamics, we performed 3D patient-specific fluid-structure interaction (FSI) simulations with fully coupled blood flow dynamics and valve motion throughout the cardiac cycle.
