The plant hormone ethylene has many roles in growth and development. In seed plants, the ethylene precursor 1-aminocyclopropane-1-carboxylic acid (ACC) is converted into ethylene by ACC oxidase (ACO), and treatment with ACC induces ethylene responses. However, non-seed plants lack ACO homologues, which led us to examine the relationship between ACC and ethylene in the liverwort Marchantia polymorpha.

The results of a 3+1 sterile neutrino search using eight years of data from the IceCube Neutrino Observatory are presented. A total of 305 735 muon neutrino events are analyzed in reconstructed energy-zenith space to test for signatures of a matter-enhanced oscillation that would occur given a sterile neutrino state with a mass-squared differences between 0.01 and 100  eV^{2}.

We report on the first measurement of the astrophysical neutrino flux using particle showers (cascades) in IceCube data from 2010-2015. This is a case of a 64-year-old white man with a history of CCA, originally diagnosed in May 2018 and returning in November 2019 with growing cutaneous nodules. These were removed for cosmetic and functional purposes. Pathologic findings of the lesions showed likely metastatic disease from his original CCA.

Purpose/aim: The optic nerve (ON) becomes taut during adduction beyond ~26° in healthy people and patients with primary open angle glaucoma (POAG), but only retracts the globe in POAG. We used magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) to investigate this difference.

Obscurin comprises a family of giant modular proteins that play key structural and regulatory roles in striated muscles. Immunoglobulin domains 58/59 (Ig58/59) of obscurin mediate binding to essential modulators of muscle structure and function, including canonical titin, a smaller splice variant of titin, termed novex-3, and phospholamban (PLN). Importantly, missense mutations localized within the obscurin-Ig58/59 region that affect binding to titins and/or PLN have been linked to the development of myopathy in humans.

The neuropeptide arginine vasopressin (AVP) plays significant roles in maintaining homeostasis and regulating social behavior. In vaginally delivered neonates, a surge of AVP is released into the bloodstream at levels exceeding release during life-threatening conditions such as hemorrhagic shock. In the Fall of 2016 a workshop was held which brought together over 50 scientists from the ecological and radiological fields to discuss feasibility and challenges of reintegrating ecosystem science into radioecology. There is a growing desire to incorporate attributes of ecosystem science into radiological risk assessment and radioecological research more generally, fueled by recent advances in quantification of emergent ecosystem attributes and the desire to accurately reflect impacts of radiological stressors upon ecosystem function. This paper is a synthesis of the discussions and consensus of the workshop participant's responses to three primary questions, which were: 1) How can ecosystem science support radiological risk assessment? 2) What ecosystem level endpoints potentially could be used for radiological risk assessment? and 3) What inference strategies and associated methods would be most appropriate to assess the effects of radionuclides on ecosystem structure and function? The consensus of the participants was that ecosystem science can and should support radiological risk assessment through the incorporation of quantitative metrics that reflect ecosystem functions which are sensitive to radiological contaminants.
