We investigate the electronic properties of nanoribbons made out of monolayer Lieb, transition, and kagome lattices using the tight-binding model with a generic Hamiltonian. It allows us to map the evolutionary stages of the interconvertibility process between Lieb and kagome nanoribbons by means of only one control parameter. Results for the energy spectra, the density of states, and spatial probability density distributions are discussed for nanoribbons with three types of edges: straight, bearded, and asymmetric.

There are many causes of peripheral blood eosinophilia (PBE), including allergic, infectious, rheumatic, and hematologic disorders. The diagnosis of tegumentary leishmaniasis (TL) presents problems by the variable sensitivity and specificity of the tests, and the biological samples used are also invasive. We theoretically demonstrate chiral propagation of plasmon polaritons and show that it is more efficient and easier to control than the recently observed chiral shear phonon polaritons. We consider plasmon polaritons created in an anisotropic two-dimensional (2D) material twisted with respect to an anisotropic substrate to best exploit the competition between anisotropic electron-electron interactions and the anisotropic electronic structure of the host material. Gate voltage and twist angle are then used for precise control of the chiral plasmon polaritons, overcoming the existing restrictions with chiral phonon polaritons.

The progression of metabolic-dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) to metabolic-dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASH) involves complex alterations in both liver-autonomous and systemic metabolism that influence the liver's balance of fat accretion and disposal. Here, we quantify the relative contribution of hepatic oxidative pathways to liver injury in MASLD-MASH. Using NMR spectroscopy, UHPLC-MS, and GC-MS, we performed stable-isotope tracing and formal flux modeling to quantify hepatic oxidative fluxes in humans across the spectrum of MASLD-MASH, and in mouse models of impaired ketogenesis.

This study investigates the effect of Captopril on the overproduction of adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH) and its precursor proopiomelanocortin (POMC) in the pituitary gland of male diabetic mice.
