NLRP3 inflammasome has been implicated in neutrophil polarization and extrusion of neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs) in vitro and facilitates secretion of Il1-beta (IL-1β). Permanent ligation of the left anterior descending artery was used to induce MI in WT and NLRP3 mice as well as in NLRP3 recipient mice transfused with either WT or NLRP3 neutrophils. NLRP3 deficiency reduced infarct size to roughly a third of WT heart injury and preserved left ventricular (LV) function at 12 h after MI as assessed by echocardiography and triphenyltetrazolium chloride staining of live tissue.

Metabolic dysfunction-associated fatty liver disease (MAFLD) is the liver manifestation of a metabolic syndrome and is highly prevalent in the general population. There has been significant progress in non-invasive tests for MAFLD, from the diagnosis of fatty liver and monitoring of liver fat content in response to intervention, to evaluation of liver fibrosis and its change over time, and from risk stratification of patients within the context of clinical care pathways, to prognostication. Various non-invasive tests have also been developed to assess for fibrotic metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis, which has emerged as an important diagnostic goal, particularly in the context of clinical trials.

Activated B-cell-like diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (ABC-DLBCL) is an aggressive lymphoma characterized by constitutive NF-κB activation, but whether miR-17∼92 contributes to this activation remains unclear. Herein, we sought to evaluate the role of miR-17∼92 in the process of NF-κB activation in ABC-DLBCL. We found that the expression of miR-17∼92 primary transcript was positively correlated with NF-κB activity, miR-17∼92 activated the NF-κB signaling in ABC-DLBCL, and its over-expression promoted ABC-DLBCL cell growth, accelerated cell G1 to S phase transition and enhanced cell resistance to NF-κB inhibitor.

A pilot randomized controlled trial was conducted to examine the effectiveness of a storybook package for enhancing the perceived knowledge and confidence of health and social care professionals in working with bereaved child siblings and their parents before and after the loss. Open-ended questions were asked to collect feedback, and thematic analyses were conducted to generate the themes. Quantitative findings provided preliminary but not strong evidence of its effectiveness, but qualitative findings showed that participants perceived their knowledge about supporting bereaved siblings and their parents was enhanced and considered the storybook package a useful tool for facilitating their practice.

A combination of searches for a new resonance decaying into a Higgs boson pair is presented, using up to 139  fb^{-1} of pp collision data at sqrt[s]=13  TeV recorded with the ATLAS detector at the LHC. The combination includes searches performed in three decay channels: bb[over ¯]bb[over ¯], bb[over ¯]τ^{+}τ^{-}, and bb[over ¯]γγ. No excess above the expected Standard Model background is observed and upper limits are set at the 95% confidence level on the production cross section of Higgs boson pairs originating from the decay of a narrow scalar resonance with mass in the range 251 GeV-5 TeV.

We theoretically investigated disconnected dispersive edge states in an anisotropic honeycomb lattice without chiral symmetry. When both mirror and chiral symmetries are present, this system is defined by a topological quantity known as fractional polarization (FP) term and exhibits a bulk band gap, classifying it as an FP insulator. While the FP insulator accommodates robust, flat topological edge states (TES), it also offers the potential to engineer these edge states by deliberately disrupting a critical symmetry that safeguards the underlying topology.
