Post-infective neuromuscular hyperexcitability syndrome in a young man with cystic fibrosis: A case report.

Cystic fibrosis (CF)-related central (CNS) and peripheral nervous system (PNS) disorders have not yet been fully described. We report the first case of post-infective neuromuscular hyperexcitability syndrome in a 23-year-old male patient with CF and pulmonary exacerbation. CNS radiological investigations were unremarkable and no autoantibodies were detected.

The association between human papillomavirus (HPV) and other sexually transmitted infections (STIs) in anal lesions still remains unclear. Aim of the study was to evaluate the prevalence of simultaneous infection of HPV and Chlamydia trachomatis, Neisseria gonorrhoeae, Mycoplasma genitalium, and Trichomonas vaginalis in individuals screened for HPV anal infection. Background: Prior work has shown that transcranial alternating current stimulation (tACS) of parietooccipital alpha oscillations (8-14 Hz) can modulate working memory (WM) performance as a function of the phase lag to endogenous oscillations. However, leveraging this effect using real-time phase-tuned tACS has not been feasible so far due to stimulation artifacts preventing continuous phase tracking.

Identification and quantification protocol of hazardous-metal bearing minerals: Ni in serpentinite rocks from Valmalenco (Sondrio, Central Alps, Northern Italy).

Serpentinite is a widespread rock type used worldwide as building material. Heavy metals like Ni in both the serpentinite products and serpentinite mining wastes pose potential environmental and health issues. This work devises an analytical protocol to identify and quantify the Ni speciation in the mineralogical matrix, through: i) bulk Ni quantification; ii) quantitative mineralogical and chemical analysis of each Ni-rich mineral; iii) comparison of bulk analysis results with the sum of each contribution from the Ni-rich minerals.

This study aims to develop a novel method for a preliminary screening of masks or materials filtration efficiency by a green, easy and rapid setup based on the use of a riboflavin solution, a safe autofluorescent biomolecule. The proposed setup is composed of a commercial aerosol generator commonly used for aerosol therapy, custom 3D printed aerosol chamber and sample holder, a filter for downstream riboflavin detection and a vacuum pump.

It aims at supporting decision-makers in promoting an equitable, efficient, and high-quality healthcare system. During 2023, the Italian Minister of Health officially endorsed the National program for Hta on medical devices 2023-2025 (Pnhta), aligning with EU Regulation 2017/745 and EU Regulation 2017/746.

METhodological RadiomICs Score (METRICS): a quality scoring tool for radiomics research endorsed by EuSoMII.

Purpose: To propose a new quality scoring tool, METhodological RadiomICs Score (METRICS), to assess and improve research quality of radiomics studies.

Methods: We conducted an online modified Delphi study with a group of international experts. It was performed in three consecutive stages: Stage#1, item preparation; Stage#2, panel discussion among EuSoMII Auditing Group members to identify the items to be voted; and Stage#3, four rounds of the modified Delphi exercise by panelists to determine the items eligible for the METRICS and their weights.
