Background: Cancer survivors use complementary therapies (CTs) for a variety of reasons; however, with interest and use reportedly on the rise and a widening range of products and practices available, there is a need to establish trends in and drivers of interest. We aimed to determine (1) frequencies of use, level of interest, and barriers for 30 specific CTs and (2) whether physical symptoms, perceived stress (PS), or spiritual well-being were related to interest levels.

We report a facile synthesis of Au nanowires (AuNWs) with a high aspect ratio (l/D) of up to 5000 on a plasma activated graphene template with ultrasound assistance. We demonstrate that the ultrasonication induced symmetry breaking of Au clusters facilitates the growth of AuNWs from the embryonic stages. Furthermore, the growth mechanism of AuNWs is systematically investigated using high resolution electron transmission microscopy (HRTEM), which reveals the unique role of the defective graphene template in directing the growth of AuNWs.

Background: No standardized measures specifically assess cancer survivors' and healthcare providers' experience of Survivor Care Plans (scps). We sought to develop two care plan evaluation (cpe) measures, one for survivors (cpe-s) and one for healthcare providers (cpe-p), examine initial psychometric qualities in Alberta, and assess generalizability in Manitoba, Canada.

Cell-free DNA screening for fetal aneuploidy is a commonly used testing strategy in pregnancies at high risk for fetal aneuploidy. The use of cell-free DNA screening is expanding to the low-risk population, because the detection rate for trisomy 21 surpasses that of traditional screening modalities. Although the sensitivity and specificity of cell-free DNA are superior to traditional screening, false-positive results do occur and may indicate an adverse maternal health condition, including maternal mosaicism or, rarely, malignancy.

Au nanoplates (quasi-two-dimensional single crystals) are most commonly synthesized using a mixture of Au precursors via approaches involving multiple processing steps and the use of seed crystals. Here, we report the synthesis of truncated-hexagonal {111}-oriented micrometer-scale Au nanoplates on graphene multilayers using only potassium tetrabromoaurate (KAuBr) as the precursor. We demonstrate that the nanoplate sizes can be controllably varied from tens of nanometers up to a few micrometers by introducing desired concentrations of chloroauric acid (HAuCl) to KAuBr and their thicknesses from ∼13 to ∼46 nm with the synthesis time.

While it is well-known that women who are younger, more highly educated, and have higher incomes are more likely to use CTs, individual differences such as personality factors have been largely unexplored as predictors of CT use.

Using a cross-sectional study design, shear wave speed (SWS) measurements were obtained from women in the first trimester (5-14 wk of gestation) and compared with estimates from a previous study of women at term (37-41 wk).
