Background: Currently, validated biomarkers for assessing hemorrhagic transformation (HT) after intravenous thrombolysis (IVT) are lacking. We aimed to validate a test combining GFAP (glial fibrillary acidic protein) and UCH-L1 (ubiquitin C-terminal hydrolase-L1) to indicate the absence of HT after IVT.
Methods: We prospectively enrolled consecutive patients with stroke treated with IVT from 16 hospitals.
Acquiring detailed spatial information about intratumor microbiota in situ is challenging, which leaves 3D distributions of microbiota within entire tumors largely unexplored. Here, a modified iDISCO-CUBIC tissue clearing and D-amino acid microbiome labeling-based (miCDaL) strategy are proposed, that integrates microbiota in situ labeling, tissue clearing, and whole-mount tissue imaging to enable 3D visualization of indigenous intratumor microbiota. Leveraging whole-mount spatial resolution and centimeter-scale imaging depth, the 3D biogeography of microbiota is successfully charted across various tumors at different developmental stages, providing quantitative spatial insights in relation to host tumors.

Inactivation of the tumor suppressor gene is the signature initiating event in the most common form of kidney cancer, clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC). Such tumors are usually driven by the excessive HIF2 activity that arises when the gene product, pVHL, is defective.

Identification of key regulators of metabolic reprogramming could lead to the development of treatments for preventing and treating metastatic melanoma. In this study, we identified that tectonic family member 1 (TCTN1) promotes melanoma metastasis by increasing fatty acid oxidation (FAO).

While indium tin oxide (ITO) has traditionally served as a benchmark TE, its high cost prompts the exploration of alternatives to optimize electrode characteristics and improve device efficiencies. Conducting polymers, which combine polymer advantages with metal-like conductivity, emerge as a promising solution for TEs.

Our aim was to find sensitive diffusional kurtosis imaging biomarkers to differentiate the white matter damage pattern of mild cognitive impairment and dementia.
Materials And Methods: Nineteen patients with Parkinson disease with mild cognitive impairment and 18 patients with Parkinson disease with dementia were prospectively enrolled.
Background: The administration of intravenous cangrelor at reperfusion achieves faster onset of platelet P2Y12 inhibition than oral ticagrelor and has been shown to reduce myocardial infarction (MI) size in the preclinical setting. We hypothesized that the administration of cangrelor at reperfusion will reduce MI size and prevent microvascular obstruction in patients with ST-segment-elevation MI undergoing primary percutaneous coronary intervention.
Methods: This was a phase 2, multicenter, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trial conducted between November 2017 to November 2021 in 6 cardiac centers in Singapore.
Background: Most organs are maintained lifelong by resident stem/progenitor cells. During development and regeneration, lineage-specific stem/progenitor cells can contribute to the growth or maintenance of different organs, whereas fully differentiated mature cells have less regenerative potential. However, it is unclear whether vascular endothelial cells (ECs) are also replenished by stem/progenitor cells with EC-repopulating potential residing in blood vessels.

We therefore conducted a multinational cohort study with linked mother-child pairs data in Hong Kong, New Zealand, Taiwan, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden to evaluate associations between different MDM (any MDM, gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) and pregestational diabetes mellitus (PGDM)) and ADHD using Cox proportional hazards regression. We included over 3.

Methods: We enrolled 332,175 adults who participated in a health screening program between 1997 and 2013. Participants were categorized into various subtypes, including metabolic dysfunction-associated SLD (MASLD), MASLD with excessive alcohol consumption (MetALD), and alcohol-related liver disease (ALD), based on ultrasonography findings, alcohol consumption patterns, and cardiometabolic risk factors.
Background: Diagnosis of colorectal cancer (CRC) during early stages can greatly improve patient outcome. Although technical advances in the field of genomics and proteomics have identified a number of candidate biomarkers for non-invasive screening and diagnosis, developing more sensitive and specific methods with improved cost-effectiveness and patient compliance has tremendous potential to help combat the disease.
Methods: We enrolled three cohorts of 479 subjects, including 226 CRC cases, 197 healthy controls, and 56 advanced precancerous lesions (APC).
Background: Pulmonary hypertension (PH) is a progressive cardiopulmonary disease with a high mortality rate. Although growing evidence has revealed the importance of dysregulated energetic metabolism in the pathogenesis of PH, the underlying cellular and molecular mechanisms are not fully understood. In this study, we focused on ME1 (malic enzyme 1), a key enzyme linking glycolysis to the tricarboxylic acid cycle.

Traditional methods to produce waterborne conductive polymers involve modifying their backbone with hydrophilic side chains or using surfactants to form and stabilize aqueous nanoparticle dispersions. However, these chemical approaches are not always feasible and can lead to poor material/device performance.

The cerebellum and primary motor cortex (M1) have been suggested as targets for neuromodulation of balance and motor recovery after stroke. This study aimed to compare the efficacy and safety of intermittent theta-burst stimulation (iTBS) to the cerebellum or M1 on balance and motor recovery in patients with stroke.

Methods: In 2 phase 1 and phase 2 randomized, double-blind and placebo-controlled trials, 84 and 480 Chinese healthy children 3 to 17 years old were enrolled, respectively, and randomized in 3:1 ratio to receive 2 doses of a severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 inactivated vaccine, KCONVAC or placebo. The 2 doses were given 28 days apart.
Rationale And Objectives: To develop a nomogram to stratify tumor recurrence (TR) in intracranial solitary fibrous tumors (ISFTs) based on the clinical, radiological, and pathological features.
Materials And Methods: A total of 215 patients from Beijing Tiantan Hospital, Capital Medical University and 48 patients from Lanzhou University Second Hospital, diagnosed with ISFT based on histopathological findings, were included. The patients were randomly divided into training and test cohorts at a ratio of 8:2.
The chemotherapeutic doxorubicin (DOX) detrimentally impacts the heart during cancer treatment. This necessitates development of non-cardiotoxic delivery systems that retain DOX anticancer efficacy. We used human induced pluripotent stem cell-derived cardiomyocytes (hiPSC-CMs), endothelial cells (hiPSC-ECs), cardiac fibroblasts (hiPSC-CFs), multi-lineage cardiac spheroids (hiPSC-CSs), patient-specific hiPSCs, and multiple human cancer cell lines to compare the anticancer efficacy and reduced cardiotoxicity of single protein encapsulated DOX (SPEDOX-6), to standard unformulated (UF) DOX.

One type of contaminant that remains poorly investigated is replication-competent (rc)AAVs. rcAAVs form through recombination of DNA originating from production materials, yielding intact, replicative, and potentially infectious virus-like virions.

Methane dehydroaromatization (MDA) over Mo-modified zeolite is a potential catalytic route for converting natural gas into valuable aromatics. However, the active species in this reaction are highly complex, involving diverse Mo species, acidic sites of zeolite, and organic molecules. Herein, we apply 1D Mo NMR and 2D H- Mo heteronuclear correlation solid-state NMR spectroscopy to directly observe the active ensembles in the confined channels of Mo/ZSM-5 zeolite during the MDA reaction.
