Objectives: Several reports suggesting that the intestinal microbiome plays a key role in the development of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) or colorectal cancer (CRC), but the changes of intestinal bacteria in healthy people, patients with IBD and CRC are not fully explained. Two-dimensional (2D) layered perovskites are naturally formed multiple quantum-well (QW) materials, holding great promise for applications in many optoelectronic devices. However, the further use of 2D layered perovskites in some devices is limited by the lack of QW-to-QW carrier transport/transfer due to the energy barrier formed by the insulating ligands between QWs. Herein, we report an Auger-assisted electron transfer between adjacent QWs in (CHNH)PbI 2D perovskites particularly with = 12 and 18, where the electron energy barrier () is similar to the QW band gap energy ().

Contact tracing is increasingly used to combat COVID-19, and digital implementations are now being deployed, many based on Apple and Google's Exposure Notification System. These systems utilize non-traditional smartphone-based technology, presenting challenges in understanding possible outcomes. In this work, we create individual-based models of three Washington state counties to explore how digital exposure notifications combined with other non-pharmaceutical interventions influence COVID-19 disease spread under various adoption, compliance, and mobility scenarios.

To develop a functional alternative hepatocyte model for primary human hepatocytes (PHHs) with proliferative property, essential drug metabolic, and transporter functions, proliferating human hepatocytes (ProliHHs) expanded from PHHs were fully characterized in vitro. Herein, ProliHHs generated from multiple PHHs donors could be expanded more than 200-fold within four passages and maintained their metabolic or transporter capacities partially. Furthermore, ProliHHs were able to regain the mature hepatic property after three-dimensional (3D) culture.

Recent years have witnessed a surge of research in two-dimensional (2D) ferroelectric structures that may circumvent the depolarization effect in conventional perovskite oxide films. Herein, by first-principles calculations, we predict that an orthorhombic phase of lead(II) oxide, PbO, serves as a promising candidate for 2D ferroelectrics with good stability. With a semiconducting nature, 2D ferroelectric PbO exhibits intrinsic valley polarization, which leads to robust ferroelectricity with an in-plane spontaneous polarization of 2.

Objectives: To investigate the impact of lung window (LW) and mediastinal window (MW) settings on the clinical T classifications and prognostic prediction of patients with subsolid nodules.

Methods: Seven hundred and nineteen surgically resected subsolid nodules were reviewed, grouping into pure ground-glass nodules (n = 179) or part-solid nodules (n = 540) using LW.
