Background: Systemic therapy of head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC), in contrast to local therapy, is a very general term for the use of drugs that affect the entire organism. Immunotherapy is a subtype of systemic therapy, although the boundaries are hard to define, since the immune system is likely to play an essential role in all treatments. This article focuses on systemic therapy.

Summary Answer: We present a three-dimensional (3D) physiologically relevant, organ-on-a-chip model of the uterine wall containing primary endometrial and myometrial cellular participants, generated from human uterine tissue.
What Is Known Already: As a highly dynamic reproductive organ, the human uterus plays fundamental physiological roles in menstruation and childbirth. The endometrial-myometrial junction (EMJ) defines the interface between the inner mucosal layer (endometrium) and outer smooth muscle zone (myometrium) that comprises the uterine wall.

Sensitive assays are essential for the accurate identification of individuals infected with severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). Here, we report a multiplexed assay for the fluorescence-based detection of seroconversion in infected individuals from less than 1 µl of blood, and as early as the day of the first positive nucleic acid test after symptom onset. The assay uses dye-encoded antigen-coated beads to quantify the levels of immunoglobulin G (IgG), IgM and IgA antibodies against four SARS-CoV-2 antigens.

Humoral immunity can help protect against atherosclerosis formation; however, the existence, origin, and function of putative atherogenic antibodies are controversial. How such atherosclerosis-promoting antibodies could affect the specific composition and stability of plaques, as well as the vasculature generally, remains unknown.

We investigated the benefit of the type 2, glycoengineered antibody obinutuzumab (also known as GA101) as compared with that of rituximab, each combined with chlorambucil, in patients with previously untreated CLL and coexisting conditions.
Methods: We randomly assigned 781 patients with previously untreated CLL and a score higher than 6 on the Cumulative Illness Rating Scale (CIRS) (range, 0 to 56, with higher scores indicating worse health status) or an estimated creatinine clearance of 30 to 69 ml per minute to receive chlorambucil, obinutuzumab plus chlorambucil, or rituximab plus chlorambucil.
