Introduction: Despite endometrial ablation/resection being a very successful treatment for women with heavy menstrual bleeding, re-intervention with additional surgery is needed in 12%-25% of cases. Introducing a levonorgestrel-intrauterine system (LNG-IUS) immediately after ablation could preserve the integrity of the uterine cavity and suppress the regenerated or non-ablated endometrial tissue. Therefore, this combined treatment can perhaps lower the re-intervention rate.

Objective: For young women with complex atypical endometrial hyperplasia (CAH) and endometrial cancer (EC) who choose to preserve fertility, progestin therapy is the mainstay of treatment. The objective of this study was to evaluate oncologic and reproductive outcomes associated with progestin therapy among these women from a population-based cancer registry.

Methods: This was a retrospective population-based cohort study of women under age 45 in British Columbia from 2003 to 2015 with CAH or grade I endometrioid EC who used progestins as initial management.

Objectives: There is uncertainty surrounding the prognostic value and clinical utility of peritoneal cytology in endometrial cancer. Our primary objective was to determine if positive cytology is associated with disease-free and overall survival in women treated surgically for endometrial cancer, specifically those with low or intermediate risk disease.

Methods: This was a retrospective population-based cohort study of British Columbia Cancer Registry patients who underwent surgery with peritoneal washings for endometrioid-type endometrial cancer from 2003 to 2009.

The phenomenon of physical contact between red blood cells and artificial surfaces is considered. A fully three-dimensional mathematical model of a bilayer membrane in contact with an artificial surface is presented. Numerical results for the different geometries and adhesion intensities are found to be in agreement with experimentally observed geometries obtained by means of digital holographic microscopy.

To investigate the potential application of graphene oxide (GO) in bone repair, this study is focused on the preparation, characterization and cell behavior of graphene oxide coatings on quartz substrata. GO coatings were prepared on the substrata using a modified dip-coating procedure. Atomic force microscopy (AFM), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and Raman spectroscopy results demonstrated that the as-prepared coatings in this study were homogeneous and had an average thickness of ~67 nm.
