A case of very-late-onset systemic lupus erythematosus.

A 93-year-old woman was admitted to our hospital because of fever. Radiographic findings revealed accumulation of pleural fluid. Moreover, blood tests revealed inflammation, lymphopenia, hypocomplementemia, positive for anti-nuclear antibody, and elevated anti-DNA antibody level.

Acute acalculous cholecystitis induced by mesenteric inflammatory veno-occlusive disease (MIVOD) in systemic lupus erythematosus.

A 43-year-old woman with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) was treated for lupus pleurisy. During the course of her illness, she abruptly suffered severe right hypochondriac pain and high-grade fever. Abdominal ultrasonography revealed a thickening of the gallbladder wall without cholelithiasis, and she was diagnosed with acute acalculous cholecystitis (AAC).

A case of inclusion body myositis with systemic sclerosis.

Abstract We report a case of systemic sclerosis (SSc) associated with inclusion body myositis (IBM). A 58-year-old man was diagnosed as having SSc at the age of 35 years, and had been suffering from chronic progressive weakness and atrophy of the limb muscles. A diagnosis of IBM was established by muscle biopsy.

Anti-Thy-1 antibody provokes reverse passive cutaneous anaphylaxis-like reactions.

Antibodies to rat Thy-1, and also to murine Thy-1, could provoke reverse passive cutaneous anaphylaxis-like (RPCA-like) reactions. The threshold amount of purified anti-Thy-1 antibodies for RPCA-like reactions was 12.5 microg/ml.
