Oral cancer detection is based on biopsy histopathology, however with digital microscopy imaging technology there is real potential for rapid multi-site imaging and simultaneous diagnostic analysis. Fifty-nine patients with oral mucosal abnormalities were imaged in vivo with a confocal laser endomicroscope using the contrast agents acriflavine and fluorescein for the detection of oral epithelial dysplasia and oral cancer. To analyse the 9168 images frames obtained, three tandem applied pre-trained Inception-V3 convolutional neural network (CNN) models were developed using transfer learning in the PyTorch framework.

The overall goal of this work was to assess the ability of Natural Killer cells to kill cultures of patient-derived glioblastoma cells. Herein we report impressive levels of NK-92 mediated killing of various patient-derived glioblastoma cultures observed at ET (effector: target) ratios of 5:1 and 1:1. This enabled direct comparison of the degree of glioblastoma cell loss across a broader range of glioblastoma cultures.

Tumour metastasis to the jaw is an uncommon finding. When it does present, it is usually evidence of widespread metastatic disease and represents an unfavourable prognostic indicator. The clinical presentation of metastatic disease in the jaw can vary and may occur in the oral soft tissues, subcutaneous tissues adjacent to bone, mandible or maxillary alveolus and can mimic dental pathology.

Background: Radiotherapy combined with chemotherapy is the treatment of choice for locally advanced non-metastatic head and neck cancer. Elderly and frail patients cannot always tolerate this therapy and no clear guidelines exist for their treatment. This retrospective study aims to analyze the efficacy and safety of hypofractionated radiotherapy for these patients.

Objectives: Long-term care (LTC) staff may develop dissociation due to high-stress work environments and trauma exposures. This study aimed to (1) assess the prevalence of pathological dissociation in LTC home staff during the COVID-19 pandemic; (2) examine the associations of pathological dissociation with demographic characteristics, mental health, insomnia, and professional quality of life; and (3) examine whether pathological dissociation was sensitive to change following a coherent breathing intervention.

Design: We analyzed data from a pre-post breathing intervention study conducted between January and September 2022.
