Introduction: Cardiovascular disease is the primary cause of death among kidney transplant recipients (KTRs), whereas chronic allograft nephropathy (CAN) is the main reason leading to end-stage chronic kidney disease. The etiologies of both entities include immunologic and nonimmunologic factors.
