  • The study aimed to compare the biomechanical properties of two types of balloon-expandable covered stents, VBX and iCover, focusing on their use as bridging stents in fenestrated aortic endoprostheses.
  • Three biomechanical tests were conducted on 12 stents to assess their bending strength, pullout force, and shear-stress force by using a dynamometer and analyzing the data microscopically.
  • Results showed that while VBX required more force to bend when crimped, it needed less force when expanded compared to iCover, with both types showing similar pullout force results but different shear-stress forces at various deformations.
