Repeated closed-head injuries (rCHI) from activities like contact sports, falls, military combat, and traffic accidents pose a serious risk due to their cumulative impact on the brain. Often, rCHI is not diagnosed until symptoms of irreversible brain damage appear, highlighting the need for preventive measures. This study assessed the prophylactic efficacy of remote photobiomodulation (PBM) targeted at the lungs against rCHI-induced brain injury and associated behavioral deficits.

Microbial production of organic acids has been hindered by the poor acid tolerance of microorganisms and the high costs of waste salt reprocessing. The robustness of non-conventional microorganisms in an acidic environment makes it possible to produce organic acids at low pH and greatly simplifies downstream processing. In this review we discuss the environmental adaptability features of non-conventional yeasts, as well as the latest developments in genomic engineering strategies that have facilitated metabolic engineering of these strains.

In this study, mature compost (MR) was used as a substitute for rice husk (RH) to mitigate the rebound of ARGs and mobile genetic elements (MGEs) during the cooling phase of sewage sludge composting, and the relationship among ARGs, MGEs, bacterial community and environmental factors was investigated to explore the key factor influencing ARGs rebound. The results showed that aadD, blaCTX-M02, ermF, ermB, tetX and vanHB significantly increased 4.

Electrodepositing gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) onto the electrode surface, forming a self-assembled monolayer (SAM) of 4-MBA via thiol-gold interactions, and immobilizing Cu via coordination bonding with the monolayer, finalizing the electrochemical biosensor construction as Cu/4-MBA/AuNPs/SPE. The successful modification of the biosensor interface is confirmed through scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX), and electrochemical characterization.
