The Rab11-Rab8 cascade mediated by the Rab8 guanine nucleotide exchange factor (GEF), Rabin8, orchestrates multiple membrane transport processes, but Rab membrane loading and exchange dynamics are unclear. Here, we use advanced fluorescence imaging approaches to characterize Rab11, Rab8, and Rabin8 protein dynamics. Using fluorescence ablation and recovery studies (FRAP), we show that Rab8 ciliary trafficking requires Rab11 and Rabin8.

Motile cilia are critical structures that regulate early embryonic development and tissue homeostasis through synchronized ciliary motility. The formation of motile cilia is dependent on precisely controlled sequential processes including the generation, migration, and docking of centrioles/basal bodies as well as ciliary growth. Using the published proteomics data from various organisms, we identified proliferation-associated 2G4 as a novel regulator of ciliogenesis.

Article Synopsis
  • - This paper was created by experts in nursing and medicine to enhance palliative care in primary care settings, focusing on managing symptoms for patients with multiple chronic conditions.
  • - It supports early implementation of palliative care, following guidelines from major health organizations, to effectively address serious chronic conditions from the start.
  • - Implementing palliative care early can lessen health complications, reduce hospitalizations, maintain patient functionality, and improve overall quality of life, which is essential as the aging population increases healthcare costs.

Objective: The purpose of the study was to describe demographic and health literacy correlates of learning style in older adults with heart failure (HF).

Methods: Cross sectional data on learning styles (VARK Questionnaire, 16 items) and health literacy (S-TOFHLA, 36 items) were collected. Preferred learning style was determined and correlated to health literacy and demographic measures.

Neisseria gonorrhoeae (the gonococcus, Gc) causes the sexually transmitted infection gonorrhea. Gc is a prominent threat to human health by causing severe lifelong sequelae, including infertility and chronic pelvic pain, which is amplified by the emergence of "superbug" strains resistant to all current antibiotics. Gc is highly adapted to colonize human mucosal surfaces, where it survives despite initiating a robust inflammatory response and influx of polymorphonuclear leukocytes (PMNs, neutrophils) that typically clear bacteria.
