Objective: Examine the demographic and social determinants of health linked to pediatric esophageal foreign body removals, with an emphasis on button battery ingestions.

Study Design: A retrospective chart review was performed on pediatric patients who underwent operative removal of a foreign body from the esophagus (Current Procedural Terminologies [CPTs] 43215, 43194).

Setting: The study was conducted across four hospitals from November 2010 to December 2023.

Research with Western samples has uncovered the rapid development of infants' visual attention. This study evaluated spatial attention in 6- to 9-month-old infants living in rural Malawi (N = 511;  = 255,  = 427) or suburban California, United States (N = 57,  = 29,  = 37) in 2018-2019. Using the Infant Orienting With Attention (IOWA) task, results showed that infants were faster and more accurate to fixate a target when a cue validly predicted the target location and were slower and less accurate when the cue was invalid.

Introduction: Polyhydramnios is associated with both maternal and fetal adverse outcomes. Idiopathic polyhydramnios, regardless of its severity category, was considered not to be associated with an increase in adverse outcomes. In contrast, when conditions such as congenital and chromosomal abnormalities or diabetes mellitus are detected, neonatal and maternal adverse outcomes can be up to five times higher.

Introduction: The association of scam susceptibility with the timing of Alzheimer's disease (AD) dementia onset is unknown.

Methods: One thousand ninety-two older adults without dementia underwent assessments of scam susceptibility and annual clinical evaluations to document incident AD dementia. Accelerated failure time models examined the relation of scam susceptibility with dementia onset.
