Mastering the associations between letters and their corresponding speech sounds (LSS) is pivotal in the early stages of reading development, requiring an effective reorganisation of brain networks. Children with poor reading skills often show difficulties in LSS learning. To date, however, it remains unclear how the interaction of brain regions integral to the processing and integration of letters and speech sounds changes with LSS learning.

The relatively new test (European Patent granted 2022) for determining the total histamine degradation capacity [Totale Histamin Abbau Kapazität/Total Histamine Degrading Capacity] THAK®/THDC of a serum sample has been compared in various settings with the individual clinical history and the levels of histamine in stool. The measurement of THAK can be carried out regardless of the current status of the patient (independent of any acute symptoms), therefore THAK test is a useful and very reliable instrument for supporting the diagnosing histamine intolerance. As soon as the THAK falls below a threshold value the patient is most likely to suffer from HIT, even if the intensity of the symptoms is low.

Introduction: Anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) rupture with concomitant damage to the medial collateral ligament (MCL) is frequently seen following knee trauma. Non-surgical treatment of the MCL lesion generally results in good internal healing, but surgery may be necessary depending on the location of the lesion, the severity, and the laxity.

Objectives: To determine outcomes following ACL reconstruction surgery when there is concomitant damage to the MCL compared to isolated ACL lesions, as assessed through a prospective, multi-center cohort study in France.

Structural covariance (SC) is a promising approach for studying brain organization in the context of literacy and developmental disorders, offering insights into both structural and functional underpinnings and potential experience-dependent co-development of functional brain networks. Here, we explore the influence of maturation and reading skill on SC in reading-related brain regions. Whole-brain SC analyses were conducted for six key regions of the reading network, including an anterior and posterior subdivision of the visual word form area (VWFA).

Background: The management of hypersensitivity to excipients and food additives remains a significant issue for healthcare professionals and patients. Avoiding carboxymethylcellulose (CMC) can be a considerable challenge for patients allergic to CMC due to its widespread use. We assessed the tolerance of CMC through different route of administration in a patient with a confirmed CMC allergy.
