Context: The growth hormone (GH) secretagogue receptor, encoded by GHSR, is expressed on somatotrophs of the pituitary gland. Stimulation with its ligand ghrelin, as well as its constitutive activity, enhances GH secretion. Studies in knock-out mice suggest that heterozygous loss-of-function of GHSR is associated with decreased GH response to fasting, but patient observations in small case reports have been equivocal.

Mindfulness-Based Interventions (MBIs) have shown promising results in improving mental health in the general population. However, traditional MBIs require substantial time and effort due to the high dose of mindfulness practice, which makes them inaccessible to many individuals. This study aimed to (1) test the effectiveness of a novel low-dose MBI-Mindfulness-Based Integrative Programme (MBIP)-delivered synchronously online, on mental health symptom severity, emotion regulation, and trait mindfulness in the general population; (2) test the acceptability of this intervention; and (3) identify baseline characteristics that may predict changes in emotion regulation.

Article Synopsis
  • Early-onset fetal growth restriction affects roughly 0.3% of pregnancies and is linked to increased risks such as early-onset pre-eclampsia, with the aim of improving predictions for perinatal mortality.
  • This analysis examined data from 215 pregnant women with severe early-onset fetal growth restriction, utilizing logistic regression to identify predictors of perinatal mortality.
  • Key predictors of perinatal mortality included fetal abdominal circumference, gestational age at diagnosis, estimated fetal weight, and umbilical artery measurements; the treatment randomization did not influence mortality risk.

Triacylglycerols (TAGs), a major lipid class in foods and the human body, consist of three fatty acids esterified to a glycerol backbone. They can occur in various isomeric forms, including sn-positional, cis/trans configurational, acyl chain length, double bond positional, and mixed type isomers. Separating isomeric mixtures is of great interest as different isomers can have distinct influence on mechanisms, such as digestibility, oxidative stability, or lipid metabolism.

Objective: To determine whether it is the magnitude of early postnatal catch-up growth (CUG) in response to fetal growth restriction (FGR) or the FGR itself that negatively impacts cognitive outcome in a model of monochorionic twins discordant for fetal growth.

Study Design: This analysis is part of the LEMON study, a cohort study including all monochorionic twins with selective FGR aged 3 through 17 years. Growth measurements as documented by our primary care system were collected retrospectively.
