Background: Despite having similar palliative needs to patients with lung cancer, advanced chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) patients are less likely to receive palliative care. To evaluate the effect of introducing specialized palliative care with severe to very severe COPD patients, a randomized controlled trial (RCT) was conducted in Switzerland.

As part of the 7th Annual francophone workshop series on the harmonization of clinical practices in allogeneic stem cell transplantation held in Lille in September 2016, our workgroup discussed how transplant centers might follow a collective approach to coding data. This was done mainly by analyzing the study results found in the literature that do not provide clear answers. In addition, we discuss practical ways of coding for both donor and recipient HLA typing in the European bone marrow transplantation database called ProMISe which is managed by the European Society for Blood and Marrow Transplantation (EBMT).

Switzerland is one of the least restrictive countries in Europe in terms of tobacco advertising. A study conducted between 2013 and 2014 documented the presence of tobacco advertising, promotion and sponsorship in western Switzerland. The first part of this article presents the results of the observations realized in points of sale, in private events sponsored by the tobacco industry and during daily itineraries of young people.

Background: Epitheloid sarcoma is an uncommon malignant soft tissue tumor observed in the distal extremities of young men. We report a case of long standing ulceration of the sole which was found to be an epithelioid sarcoma.

Case Report: A 78-year-old woman had an indolent ulceration of the left sole for several months.
