Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to analyze the protein expression levels of key components in the IGF receptor pathway and their potential impact on prognosis in various early breast cancer subtypes.
  • Analysis was conducted on tumor tissue from over 1,000 women, linking high IGF1R-alpha expression to positive hormone receptor status and better survival rates for patients with specific tumor types.
  • Overall, patients with luminal A and B tumors showing high IGF1R-alpha along with low EGFR or IGF2R had significantly improved survival outcomes, highlighting the importance of these markers in treatment stratification.

Patients with Von Recklinghausen's disease (neurofibromatosis type 1) are at increased risk of developing various tumours. However, the coexistence of neurofibromatosis with small-bowel adenocarcinoma is exceedingly rare. We present an uncommon case of neurofibromatosis type 1, involving the small bowel in a 73-year-old man, who was admitted to our department with signs of acute abdomen.

Background: Induction chemotherapy (IC) followed by concomitant chemoradiotherapy (CCRT) has the potential of being an ideal multi-modality approach for improving the prognosis of patients with squamous cell carcinoma of the head and neck (SSCHN).

Patients And Methods: Thirty-four patients with locally advanced SCCHN were treated with 3 cycles of IC, consisting of docetaxel 75 mg/m2 and cisplatin 75 mg/m2 every 3 weeks, followed 3-4 weeks later by definitive radiotherapy (70 Gy) and concomitant weekly cisplatin 40 mg/m2.

Results: After a median follow-up of 27.
